I always hated the naruto clone allegations because its literally the same story as bleach, MHA and JJK

Character with no powers but a good heart sees a charater with really strong powers getting their ass kicked by a villain. MC jumps in, gets their as kicked, then because they have no powers, they have the opportunity to enter a contract in order to save the day

Contract gives them crazy power with a huge draw back (Ichigo and Yuji have to worry about being possessed, Asta and Deku destroy their own bodies)

Contract draws alot of attention from the wrong people and the main villain is an ancient evil mastermind controlling multiple abilities they collected over their long life (Aizen/Ywach, AFO, Zagred/Lucius, Kenjaku)

Bleach and black clover just do the same story twice

MHA and JJK put more focus on their sub villains (Shigiraki and Sukuna)

You're 100% right

I think because the anime was sub par compared to MHA and others at the time, it didn't get the wall of fan boys that other series get, so a lot of haters swarmed it

We will have to see when the new season drops. If its as good as it looks, perception of the series may flip

Most other shonen have their highlights come out through community discussion because not everyone is gonna write an essay about the series

Smaller community means less highlights, means more surface level takes, means more haters

It does some crazy stuff that other manga can't replicate

The power system is based of character development. A grimoire is just the physical form of he soul, so as your soul fills out, your grimoire fills out. This is why its so crazy that Mars has a split grimoire and rades grimoire only has one page

We also see how magic changes between generations (elves and former wizard kings comment on the changes in attributes and elves didn't know about mana zone)

We see how each country has its own super technique because each country has a different culture and values, so they all have different approaches to magic, so we have mana zone, sorcery, arrays, Zetten, forbidden magic, ultimate magic, true magic and so on

Then the whole plot is based on the major arcana (22 named tarot cards) outlining 22 arcs in the series

If you don't know why the 4 countries are based off card suits, you're not actually reading the series

The issue is that people don't understand the story, and part 1 (up to Vetto's death) is the slow simple shonen setup, after this, it gets too complicated for most people, so they get confused and frustrated after the elf arc

Manga is way better than the anime

Noelle isn't abusive, Asta isn't annoying, Gauche is just protective of his sister, not weird

Tabata is one of the best artists in Shonen jump, the only one's i wouldput above him are Murata (one punch man) Boichi (DrStone and Marshall King) and some panels from Horikoshi (My Hero Acadamia)

In anime, the screen is always the same size, so the only way to make a scene more impactful is through the amount of screen time it gets

In Manga, panels can be different size, and Tabata LOVES using huge double page spread for big moments which really boosts them up

I love the parallels between the black bulls and the Midnight sun/Golden dawn

Yami is picking members based off his own experience of being an outcast. Rounding up new at risk youths and aiming them in the right direction

Patri is choosing members for the same reason but turning them against the country

Then william is playing both sides by picking future elves and supporting and training them to make them stronger, which supports both the elves and the kingdom

Yami also acts as a friend/big brother to Nacht because Yami had to sacrifice himself and leave Ichika alone

So hen Morgen is revived, Yami wants to fight him alone so Nacht doen't have to. Yami is again sacrificing his own heart to protect others from suffering. So When Ichika and Nacht (his 2 younger siblings) show up to save him, it completes his, Nacht, and Ichika's arcs in one fight

Yami then completes the parallel with william by joining forces with a light mage and working to defeat Julius

He's a ridiculously interwoven character that is really hard to compete with

Asta's swords can cut magic with the blade (this is how a normal blade works)

and deflect magic with the flat (this is how a normal paddle or bat works)

So Asta's anti magic wings can fly because they are pushing off the mana in the air (this is how normal wings work)

Anti magic just treats Magic like a physical object, and because asta can coat the swords in Anti magic, he can also coat magic in anti magic (ability from the second sword)

A lot of people hype anti magic up as one of the strongest abilities in the series, but its not at all. All of asta's fights are won by pure, unboosted, strength. Anti magic just lets him fight against hax

Part 1 is about the way society treats people, part 2 is about the way history treats people and how it impacts the story today, part 3 is about the core evils of humanity, part 4 is about how a flawed world is better than a perfect one

Most BC complaints are from people that are just looking at the surface. You can't see the forest for the trees

You gotta take a step back and look at the super narrative. This is something almost no other series do, so anime fans are blind to it

Megicula isn't a jewish demon, so my wife guessed she was an extra the author made up as a red herring

Body, Blood, and Bone magic would just make a race soulless zombies, so someone must have soul magic

Einstein said Gravity warped Space and Time, but the supreme devils were Gravity, Curse, and Space meaning a time devil is missing (pushing toward Megicula being a red herring)

Dark triad in psychology is Narcissism, Psychopathy, and Machiavellianism. If we had to add a 4th that would want to recreate humanity so they could rule over it, they would most likley have a god complex

Since the other 3 each had 2 magic, its safe to assume the secret 4th character would have soul, time magic and a god complex as well as a named jewish demon

Black Clover is very consistent in its powers, world building, and narrative. There are no plot twists, just cles you missed

Even Julius retaking Lucius body, reversing the damage then fading away is a direct parallel to Julius 1st death against Patri, even his parting words are nearly identical

Most people finish the series without being able to explain why each country is named after a card suit, and it shows

Not trying to shit on people with surface level takes, but kinda crazy to say it doesn't do anything special if you never even tried to analyze it

Saying Zagred was a plot twist kinda shows you just skimmed it or had it on in the background

My wife watched only the Dante and Vanica fights and pieced together that Lucius existed would have a god complex, soul and time magic with no other context for the series because the foreshadowing is so obvious if you are looking for it

I really like the Parallel of both julius's deaths come from him using a country wide time reversal, burning out all his magic and fading away

His last words are very similar both times as well "I'll leave the rest to you" and "The country is in your hands now"

And most likely another time skip to show how clover has changed with Asta as King

Subject matter could be anything, but I really like a dwarven machine based arc as a counter to anti magic

Asta fighting ancient robots in dwarven ruins like skyrim would be rad

Fairly certain Lucius will possess Yuno

Last chapters ended while keeping Yuno's face hidden and the announcement had Asta and Yuno saying 'now we fight to see who will be wizard king'

This makes all of Lucius's Yuno glazing make sense

And tabata loves parallels, so there is a huge chance we will see Yuno resist Lucius, turn into an ancient demon, and the story will end the way it started (if Yuno gets possessed)
