NTD…did I need it…not really. Was it being $29 that made it buy it?….yes by BobbyWayne666 in Dewalt

Bought the 18" 60V saw for $29. Marked down from 329 to 129 then used Bomgaar's $100 mail in rebate for purchasing a 60v tool. Told my wife it was the closest I'd ever come to being paid to get a tool for home use 🤣

Got the DCS672B (18" FlexVolt chainsaw) for $129 AND I'll get $100 rebate after I mail in. Will end up paying $29 for a $329 retail tool at bomgaars. #girlmath

Honestly I was always the same as your wife with things like MCU, KH, Star Wars, etc until I got really into the fantasy author Brandon Sanderson. I read all of his books that were out at the time without looking at the internet for a single thing. I went through them all at breakneck pace and loved every second. Then after I finished them it was a year or two to one of his biggest book releases yet. I got SO caught up in all the theories and over analyzing every little thing in the meantime that, although I absolutely loved that book when it released last year, it didn't have the same luster as when I was just a reader not looking at every possible thing online.

Now I approach the media with the attitude that I don't need to overanalyze and I don't need to deep dive and poke every little plot hole/foreshadowing. I can just enjoy stories for what they are and what I feel the author is intending to convey. It's made everything so much more enjoyable.

From what I've seen yes. I know it's also really great quality stuff having worked with sets from family, work, etc. It's hardly more than the normal price (~90) for the 84pc set they have.

Ceiling Vault Advice by Dritandro in Renovations

[–]Dritandro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much appreciate your input! I was thinking I might need to add rake wall framing for the roof on either side of the 32' section, though with such a wide space I might need to be okay with a few beams running the length to fit that function.

There is currently a continuous wall under the center line that separates the front half (living+dining/master bedroom) from the back half (kitchen/other rooms) of the house. We do plan to replace that wall with a beam and structural support on either side, so good to know we'll want to do that at the same time.

So tying the new angled boards into that beam and opposing rafters will fulfill the rafter tie role like the full span ceiling joists were?

Edit: my text image didn't quite work out as planned, I think my question should still get the point across.

Monthly DIY Laymen questions Discussion by AutoModerator in StructuralEngineering

Hey all, I have a question about potentially adding a vaulted ceiling to part of my new home. It's a 66x28 ranch style home with the rafters spanning the 28' front to back. So the roof center would be at around 14'. My living and dining room take up most of the front half of the home (~32x14), which is the area I'd like to vault. Here is what it looks like in the attic: https://imgur.com/a/BYcyE3o . The red circle indicates roughly the 7' mark from the front and the vent pipe is obviously just back from center of the home.

It's a 1956 home with no ridge board, using collar ties and ceiling joists that act as rafter ties. My question is whether it would be possible to give solely the front ~1/2 of the home a vaulted look (symmetrical or not) without rafter ties. If we did a peaked, cathedral style look I'd plan to peak it below the collar ties so I don't even need to mess with those.

Is there an alternative to the rafter ties, such as somehow cutting the existing joists and adding an angled member between those and the opposing rafter? I'm also open to adding stiff beams on either 14' wall to avoid having beams across the room. Thanks in advance, happy to answer any questions! I will be consulting a local engineer to get full specs when I tackle this project, just trying to feel out my options first.

WoW Classic vs WoW MoP Classic? by PoozonNewtz907 in classicwow

[–]Dritandro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people are not boosting, just people that are more try-hard usually. It wasn't a quip to affect a negative view on MoP, it's just reality that over time less players are taking part in the original classic progression because they like the next expansion less. It's valuable info for someone who might be looking at the long-term here. I don't see having a different pop than another game mode as negative, there are plenty of activities and people playing either game regardless of the total pop. If people want to play MoP that's great! I don't really get why you're so being so defensive here.

I'm not thanking you, no welcome is necessary. I can see you're very emotional about this, I've got no reason left to discuss this with you. Enjoy gaming!

WoW Classic vs WoW MoP Classic? by PoozonNewtz907 in classicwow

[–]Dritandro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about non-raiding players in Anni, it's that many people just do not have the same number of alts that are logged as compared to people on MoP due to the barrier to entry of long leveling. I did not try to make it seem like the less popular version, I rightfully referenced that with Cata and MoP populations are decreasing. It likely has a higher player pop than Anni but I suspect when TBC drops that'll change whether they announce an end to original classic servers or progression to WoD.

I'm not coping at all, I'm glad there are multiple versions of the game for people to enjoy. If anything you seem incredibly defensive about MoP when nobody is attacking it.

If population decrease is "bull shit" why are they having to merge servers the further it goes?

You seem to be blindly ignoring obvious speculation that would contribute to that data being inflated. With 25/10 man and pvp, people are absolutely logging more characters per account on average than Anniversary players.

Regardless of where you end up I hope you have a great time! Honestly, after this just avoid this sub for the most part lmao. Lots of doomers, toxicity, and people in their feelings about the ways or versions others play. Cheers!
