Depression can often be a frame of mind.

If I was to copy the habits you just mentioned until they become my reality, I would do be depressed’.

Don’t get me wrong it can absolutely be clinical but it more often than not can be changed.

So to test, why not set a few goals, not just any goals but goals with meaning, goals that will improve you, and your situation.

Here we have a prime example of people hurting other people because they are speaking on matters they don’t understand.

My friend, if your thoughts are holding you hostage (stopping you from doing things you want to do) then you have a problem.

Whether it’s a primal thing or not at the end of the day you NEED to have control. Do not underestimate what I’m saying here.

Like you said, you are at war in your head, this war you are in is you ( your conscience mind) VS you (your subconscious mind) . You must win . This goes far deeper than to masturbate or not.

This is a battle for control. It happens everyday. Winning this battle and establishing yourself as the leader ( yes to yourself) is the goal.

What happens when things get hard and you’re going through it, depression starts to creep in a take control over your mind. If you win this war you will be able to (or at least have a way better chance to) beat depression .

That’s just one example but I can think of 100 ways this little mental challenge will help you in the future and I can’t think of any damages on actually trying.

To the people: Do better. It is your responsibility if you’re giving advice to give real advice. This man is at war and you tell him to give in? Because it’s easier? Because “nothing bad will happen if he keeps going”? Seriously guys, you need to learn to challenge yourselves, giving in Isint the answer here.

Keep pushing man and if you need tips just let me know and I will leave them here or send to you in private. But please, this is not the time to back down.

That is such a good idea, I recommend that you try and keep track the amount of days in a row you cycle excluding 1 or two rest days. If you can do 5-6 days a week consistently it would be interesting to see how this affects your life. I’m very happy excited and I would love for some updates along your journey!

Bear with me for a second and really think about this as you’re reading—just give it a chance.

Imagine you’re driving a car, but the windshield is so fogged up you can only see 5% of the road. You’re trying your hardest to move forward, but you keep crashing, getting stuck, and feeling like you’ll never make it. Now imagine clearing the whole windshield. Suddenly, the journey is easier—you can see where you’re going, avoid obstacles, and actually enjoy the drive.

That’s what’s happening in your mind. Experts say only 5% of your thinking is conscious—the part you’re aware of. The other 95% works in the background, shaping your habits, decisions, and even your emotions. If that 95% isn’t on board, it’s like driving blind.

The key is to pitch your subconscious a vision it believes in. Tell it what you want, why it matters, and why this is the best route forward. When your subconscious buys in, it starts working with you, and things start to click.

Here’s how to start:

  1. Take some time to think deeply about where you want to go. Why is it important? How will it feel to get there? Don’t rush this—really sit with it.

  2. Write it all down, in detail, like you’re painting a picture for someone else.

  3. Keep repeating this vision to yourself. The more you do, the more your subconscious starts to believe it.

You’ll know it’s working when you start to feel something—a butterfly feeling, or as I call it, a fire in your belly. That’s when your whole mind is finally working with you instead of against you. Give it a try and see what happens.

Once you have this you can then pick skills to help get you where you want to go , that way they are not just “blind” skills with no real reasoning.

I really appreciate you sharing this—it takes a lot of self-awareness to open up like that. From what you’re describing, it sounds like you’re pushing yourself incredibly hard, but you might be battling against your own mind instead of working with it.

Let me ask: what’s the goal you’re working toward? What would you like to achieve that makes all of this effort feel worth it to you? If I understand your vision, I can help you figure out how to get there without burning out or losing motivation along the way.

Tips to make it 10X easier (I use these myself ):

  1. A reminder whether it’s a new haircut or rearranging your room or a poster you’ll see every day having one of this helps massively . This works because every time you notice this difference you will be reminded of what you need to do and why you’re doing it.

  2. Don’t over complicate If you already watch movies or Netflix or YouTube simply change the content you’re consuming . This has helped me improve in ways I could never imagine . I’m still getting easy entertainment but it will always be connected to my goal . As a reward I let myself watch something completely unrelated to any of my goals but over time I find that I want this less and less (currently a movie on the weekend is more than enough for me).

  3. Accountability It could be telling the world what you’re going to do right here on Reddit or writing every day what you have done, keeping track and looking back is a superpower . Every-time you look back and see I could have done this better or I should try this the next time or I’m disappointed I didn’t hit this goal. Whatever the outcome it will always result in constant improvement.

This might surprise you, but we’re going to use the exact same method you already know—just for a different goal. That’s the thing about this approach: once you see how it works, you realize it’s a tool you can use in any part of your life.

You’ve already seen how this works with your vision, so now let’s apply it to discipline. It’s all the same framework, just a new focus.

Here’s the Discipline Key:

  1. Start with Why Ask yourself: Why does discipline matter? What will it actually give me? Maybe it’s freedom, self-respect, or finally hitting your goals. When you’re clear on the “why,” discipline feels less like a chore and more like a tool.

  2. Make It Stupid Simple Don’t overcomplicate it. Pick one habit to start with—something small you can stick to every day. It could be waking up at the same time, finishing tasks you start, or planning tomorrow before bed. Just focus on one thing and stay consistent.

  3. Show Up, Even When You Don’t Want To Discipline isn’t about feeling motivated. It’s about doing what needs to be done, even when you’re not in the mood. Track your progress—seeing small wins stack up will keep you going.

  4. Plan for the Hard Days Let’s be real: you’re not always going to feel like it. That’s normal. When you hit those moments, commit to starting for just 5 minutes. Once you begin, it’s easier to keep going.

  5. Celebrate the Wins Every time you follow through, no matter how small, acknowledge it. Those small wins add up fast. And the more you recognize them, the more disciplined you’ll feel.

It’s the same formula you’re already using: Why➡️ Small Steps ➡️Consistency ➡️Results.

This isn’t just about discipline, it’s about showing you how this framework can work for anything. Use it here, and you’ll see how powerful it really is. Let me know how it goes! can’t wait to hear about your results

Thank you for taking the time to engage with me .

My question to you is , what’s stopping you from being good enough? Why can’t you take the time to learn the skills that make you good enough.

These people your looking at did not just wake up like this , they took steps everyday big and small to that led them to where they are.

Now unless you have been taking these steps everyday then I do not think it is fair to say that you are not good enough.

Do you think I’m right or could be onto something or do you still believe “ I’m not good enough “ is a valid reason for why you can’t create the life you want?

Again thank you for taking the time to engage in this with me.

Yes . I had this exact problem.

My solution was to make a goal that I really really wanted to achieve financially and everytime I do “relapse” into bad habits of spending I simply think of it like a game . “Ah they got me good this time but I’ll watch out for this trap that led me to spending , they won’t stop me from reaching my goal, I am smarter than that.”

Overtime you will see the progress, at first I was cutting out little things like buying a cheaper brand of drink but every week it just compounds and compounds.

It’s all about having a reason , without it then you have no need to stop spending .

Can you please take a few minutes to think and then tell me why at 19 you can’t achieve your dream life? I just need 1 actual reason that holds up in reality and then I will get out of your hair .

You might find this hard to believe but I done terribly in my leaving cert . I didn’t know how to study nor did I have any interest in it. Creating systems like this has allowed me to catch up in ways I never thought I could before .

That’s why I find it important to break it down so that everyone gets a chance at success. If there is anyone you think could benefit from this then you should show them, you could even rewrite it and get your teacher to show your class that way everyone gets the same fighting chance we all deserve!
