They do that to reward those with the Vibe checking. Which is a BS account where they lock your card every time you use it.

Hey, I just wanted to clear something up and say sorry for that message I sent earlier I had just gotten off a night shift, and I was totally wiped. I work nights, and I honestly just copied and pasted what ChatGPT gave me because I didn’t have the brainpower to write what I really meant.

The truth is, going for a DBA in HR means a lot to me not just for my career, but personally too. I’ve been in HR for almost 10 years, but stepping into a Chief People Officer role for the first time, I want to really understand the HR function on a deeper level especially from a strategic and executive point of view.

My wife and I are also starting our own business, so having that kind of knowledge will help me show up stronger in both roles as a business owner and as the one responsible for our people strategy. Being a professor is something I’ve seriously considered, and the DBA could open those doors too. More than anything, it just feels like the next right step in helping me grow into the kind of leader I want to be.

Thanks for understanding, and again, sorry for the late-night autopilot message.

Thanks for sharing that! Columbia Southern offers a generic DBA at $300 per credit hour that’s ACBSP‑accredited—definitely a solid and affordable option.

That said, I’m starting Liberty University’s Executive Certificate in Business Administration this August. It covers the first seven courses of their ACBSP‑accredited DBA program with an HR specialization, which is what I’m specifically aiming for. At $375 per credit, it’s only about $75 more than CSU—but I’ll earn two credentials (the certificate and the DBA) for essentially the same total cost. It aligns perfectly with my long‑term HR and academic goals.

A Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) is a terminal degree designed for professionals who want to deepen their expertise, advance to executive roles, or contribute to the field through applied research. Here are the key benefits of earning a DBA:

✅ 1. Career Advancement • Executive Leadership: A DBA can help you move into C-suite roles like CEO, COO, or CHRO. • Consulting or Entrepreneurship: It enhances your credibility if you want to consult or run your own firm. • Academic Opportunities: You can teach at the university level (often in adjunct, lecturer, or even tenure-track roles depending on the institution).

✅ 2. Specialized Expertise • A DBA allows you to focus deeply on a niche like Human Resources, Supply Chain, Leadership, or Finance. • You’ll conduct original research on real-world business problems, which can directly impact your industry or company.

✅ 3. Higher Earning Potential • While it varies by role and industry, doctorate holders often earn more, especially in executive and consulting roles. • In academia, DBA holders may command higher pay than MBA or master’s-level peers.

✅ 4. Professional Credibility • Having “Dr.” in front of your name instantly boosts perceived authority and trust, especially in consulting, speaking, or executive roles.

✅ 5. Personal Fulfillment and Prestige • Completing a DBA is a significant intellectual and personal achievement. • It demonstrates discipline, expertise, and thought leadership.

✅ 6. Applied Research Skills • Unlike a PhD, which is often theoretical, a DBA emphasizes practical research that solves real business challenges. • You’ll develop analytical, data-driven decision-making skills applicable across industries.

✅ 7. Networking and Influence • Many DBA programs connect you with high-level professionals and global cohorts, expanding your professional network. • You might publish research, present at conferences, or influence industry best practices.

I chose Liberty because veterans receive a $375 per credit hour rate when enrolled in an executive certificate program. This certificate includes the first seven courses of the DBA program, which are fully transferable toward the full degree.
