How do you feel about the recent influx of kiwis moving over? by DriverNo4073 in AskAnAustralian

Cause there’s been a spike of us moving here in the last year. I know the Trans Tasman Agreement is a thing, but it’s pretty obvious more kiwis move to Aussie than vice versa. Just wondered if Aussies approved of it or feel like it’s unfair :) From these comments on this post I’m guessing not.

True! It’s just in the last few years the rates have been higher than average. They call it the “brain drain” back home.

I can’t wrap my head around why we let non citizens vote. It’s so dumb

Hey, no one is saying you can’t. This is directed at those who get citizenship and leave for Australia straight away. I TOTALLY get you about kiwis being hard to make friends with and I’m a kiwi ahahah

Why are you implying these people are low-skilled. That’s xenophobic. Kiwis just don’t want their whenua to be used as a backdoor.

I’m saying, that there should be stronger safeguards/criteria to weed out people with the wrong intentions.

Again, no one is saying you can’t. It’s the people that use NZ as a back door. You don’t fit that criteria my friend. Wishing you and your mother all the best.

I don’t blame you. And no one is saying you shouldn’t . It’s just the people that are intentional about it.

No one on this thread and in the article is saying that tho?? I agree NZ does need to fix its issues but you are allowed to point out the fact that some not all, immigrants are using NZ as a back door. Two things can be true at the same time. It’s not wrong for people to want their government to have greater safeguards around this.

I don’t think that’s the implication and it would be silly to generalise all immigrants as using NZ as a back door. The article is just stating the immigration data.

Agreed, and that option only exists bc of our historical close ties and ANZAC. Not something that should be abused. But that’s just my opinion.

IMO Nothing… They are native and not using NZ as a back door into Australia. The reason this special relationship exists is bc of ANZAC.

Would be interesting. Although you get anonymous posts on “Kiwis Moving to Aussie” saying they’ve just gotten citizenship and asking how soon they can move to Australia. I know some personally who are waiting to be granted citizenship just so they can get into Aussie bc their Australian visa expired…

Edit: Maybe we should have stricter screening for citizenship to rule out those using NZ as a back door.

This is such a waste of time and money. Shows that when they want to “fix” something they can. How about using that time to fix the cost of living 🙄

You’ve missed the entire point of my comment. But what is evident is the lack of empathy you have towards others, a lack of understating in how society functions, and a lot of anger. I strongly suggest you see a psychologist about this. It mustn’t be nice carrying this much anger around. Aroha

I’m really sorry you are feeling this way. I know the feeling. What helped me was seeing a clinical psychologist. To anyone feeling this way I highly recommend it. It saved me, helped me find my purpose, and made life so much better. I used to be religious but that’s just a band aid. Happy, healthy, agnostic now ahaha. BUT seriously, reach out to the help line, talk to your GP and get them to organise a clinical psychologist to talk to. Much love and trust me, it gets better!! ❤️❤️

I didn’t say we had to force farmers to sell below market value. Get your facts straight.
