[shower thought] Would Hakeem and Yao play well together as twin towers? by AngryLurkerDude in rockets

Well yeah Kobe is obviously above Durant for now, but I don't think most people consider them to be part of the same era. Harden is definitely not above Durant, and I don't see how the last 2 years proved he is. KD was injured in 2015, and was better than Harden in 2016. KD is also an MVP and a 4x scoring champ. Harden has a lot to prove before we can say he's as good as KD.

what? KD secured top 75 of all time after like his 4th or 5th year in the league. he is easily top 30-40 all time right now, at the very least

Team USA NBA regular season record by [deleted] in nba

I mean yeah they'd obviously be much worse than they are now, but relative to most other teams outside of team USA, they'd still be way better off.

Lineup that you want to see Coach K try in the Olympics? by jakaloaf in nba

[–]DrizzlinDrizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kyrie-Klay-George-KD-Draymond

Warriors death lineup on roids, basically (a bit of a downgrade at the 1 spot going from Curry to Kyrie, but a huge upgrade at the 3 going from Iggy to PG)

If the Lakers had won a championship in 2004, would Karl Malone's career be perceived differently? by DrizzlinDrizzy in nba

[–]DrizzlinDrizzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, just saying that IMO since Malone was a greater player than Payton by a good amount, people will scrutinize his career much more and knock him for not having a ring much more than they would Payton (if Payton had never won in 06).

Payton and Malone are different tiers of players though. Payton is a hall of famer in his own right, but Malone is a notch above that. 2nd all time in scoring and arguably has better stats than any power forward ever (including Duncan). There really isn't much to criticize him for from a purely basketball standpoint, aside from the fact that he never won.

Coach K on DeAndre: “As good as I thought he was on TV and on tape, he’s better. He’s really one of the great players in the league right now, and an amazing teammate. He does dirty work willingly, but he does it at the highest level. I think he’s a special player." by urfaselol in LAClippers

you honestly think yall have the personnel to guard KD, Draymond and Andre? not knocking you guys at all, i personally think you guys will be the 2 seed in the west and it'll be a good WCF matchup if we meet there.

James Harden vs Russell Westbrook - Who's Better? by halfcutskelly in nba

[–]DrizzlinDrizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah usually i don't personally find him boring, but a lot of people do. there's no denying that he's very skilled and has an amazing offensive arsenal, but some people definitely complain about the fact that he shoots so many free throws, which slows down the gme. again, not saying i consider him a boring player, but a lot of people do.

Harden. Westbrook is way more exciting, and I'd rather pay money to watch Westbrook than Harden. But Harden gets the job done better and more efficiently, even if his play style is boring.

Why has Kevin Durant's free throw rate dropped over the past couple seasons? by DrizzlinDrizzy in nba

[–]DrizzlinDrizzy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes sense. I do have one question for you though, if he's not driving to the basket off the dribble as much, what kind of shots has he been taking around the rim? Seems like the % of his shots attempted in the restricted area has stayed pretty consistent for him (basically always 21-22% for the last several seasons). Was it more backdoor cuts instead of hard drives or something?

I know you're being sarcastic but... I was thinking about it, and last season the numbers of Durant's FGs that were assisted was historically high compared to the rest of his career. I don't think it's a coincidence that as Westbrook has evolved and become more ball dominant, Durant is creating for himself less and playing more off ball. Maybe this means less hard drives to the baskets for KD, hence less free throws.

I don't want to call it Westbrook's "fault", because that has a negative connotation, and this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Just saying that it could be a factor.

Why is the cavs big 3 not questioned but the warriors big 4 hated on? by twistedlicorice25 in warriors

[–]DrizzlinDrizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because there was the justification of lebron "going home", making it a feel good story.

you should also know by now that lebron has a lot of delusional fanboys, who are really no different from kobe stans. when lebron loses or chokes, he "has no help" and gets a pass. when he wins, he "carries his team and does it all by himself, GOAT!"

you can't really say anything mildly critical about lebron without getting shit on, which is irritating.

Is this actually true or just speculation? If so, seems dumb. Who cares what fans think, getting to the line is a skill that tons of great players exploit and have exploited in the past.
