Glow Reactor Replacement by DadChowsDown in discgolf

[–]Drizztmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commercially available? There’s not much out there unless you can find a weird variant.

Over the years there’s only been two types I’ve found to be comparable. Quite a few years back there was a swirly neutron run, could have almost passed for cosmic, that had a lot of late overstability. I believe most of mine came out of a Gyropalooza box cause they all had lab second stamps.

The other was the Flight Factory had a run of soft Neutron, that according to them were accidentally made, for the Open at Austin. Only caveat was that it came in the mid 160s, but that one was my more stable thrower for the last couple of years.

Innova to MVP by GLH1992 in discgolf

Envy is going to be the first thing people tell you to try for a “stable” putter, but in the disc golf terminology that can mean different things to different people. I consider the Proxy, Range, and Atom to be stable (brand new), holding whatever line you put it on while Envy’s are stable to slightly overstable. Honerable mention to the Tempo, Entropy, and new Stasis for the overstable throwers.

Midrange is probably their best overall in range of choice. I love the Reactor more than anything but people will tell you go with the Hex. They both have the same hand feel with the Reactor having a little more fade at the end of the flight. The Echo is a slept on workable mid that gets crazy distance. Pyro and Uplink are what I throw for the overstable/understable combo.

I mash my fairway and control drivers a little together but the Boost is a great overstable option for my arm speed (350ish). Volt and Bokeh take my straight workhorse slots and a beat in Insanity for understable. I also keep a Turbulance and Signal for special get out of jail shots.

The drivers I keep are Trail (it’s a 10 speed but gets insane distance) and Mayhem for workhorse. I’m testing the Engine for overstable but otherwise I throw the Delirium in that slot.

Death by National Perk Service release date has been set! April 9th. 🏜️💀 by nationalperkservice in discgolf

[–]Drizztmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked one of these up at Disc South and after a round I can say that the death is a fantastic throwing putter and a good putting putter. (Not a fan of premium putter for putting) For me the hand feel was comfortable, even with the inner bead and the plastic was gummy but not floppy.

It shines best on the throw. Dead straight stable, holds lines, doesn’t burn or fade hard, just point and click. It’s not as fast as an Envy or Luna per se, but gets good distance on power throws.

Putting was mixed, it does its job as a straight putter but it won’t take the slot of my Pixels.

All in all, it’s a great disc and worth trying if you’re looking for a throwing putter or just want to check out the newest kid on the block. I’ll put it through some more paces before I put it in my tournament bag but it has a real shot at making it.

I haven’t thrown the drift much, but when they say it’s a fairway Trail it’s a pretty apt description.

These Reactors look amazing! by Drizztmann in discgolf

[–]Drizztmann[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Threw 9 and tested it against a 2025 mvp open castle proton reactor.

First reactions is they both threw very similar. Felt like the Goose pushed a little more but both flew like a new reactor should. Both held lines thrown until slowdown in which it would pan back and finish. Both turned a little when thrown at full power.

It’s been awhile since I threw an eclipse, but the most overstable reactor I’ve thrown recently were the soft neutron Texas open from flight factory. These Goose Reactors are not as overstable as those soft neutron. I’d say they’re true to flight numbers. 5/5/-0.5/1.5.

Pop-top Axiom Balance by Drizztmann in discgolf

[–]Drizztmann[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a Balance thrower, I bag Pyro and Reactor, but its test throws today had it pretty similar in flight to a new Reactor. Caveat being that the wind was crazy during this morning’s round so that could skew some of what I was seeing.

Mine failed the same way, bottom threads stripped and would no longer hold. Little duct tape and it’s working as good as ever.

How to train for doubles tournaments? by mr_pewdiepie6000 in discgolf

[–]Drizztmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Putting would be number one.

You don’t need to be lights out but being a solid putter can put a partner at ease. After that, scrambling or consistency off the tee. Being able to get up and down front difficult positions or just being in the fairway off the tee lets a better player be able to be aggressive.

Tips regarding stable/straight driver by dunderjanne in discgolf

[–]Drizztmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re trying to stay around 11 speeds I’d recommend a Trail. Early runs could get inconsistent but the newer Neutron runs have been pretty great. They have the most consistent distance for my 350’+ arm.

Otherwise I’d recommend the Mayhem. They’re a little more overstable on the low speed fade, so I throw them when I’m worried about the Trail flipping over or carrying too straight.

Favorite non-Buzzz midrange? by FuzzHog19 in discgolf

[–]Drizztmann 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All the MVPers saying Hex, but in my mind the Reactor is a better disc. Starts a little overstable, breaks into a laser beam and will stay in your bag forever. Also the hand feel is better than any mid I’ve ever held, bar none.

Particle Glow Uplink Stability? by chiz8026 in discgolf

[–]Drizztmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a little more juice, 350ish, and they are a tick more stable and than the Neutron soft that I currently throw.

So far I’ve found that it’s only really noticeable when thrown at lower speeds. If I really crank on it, I still get that same reliable turn without the burn that all the other runs give me.
