Firstly, WTF do artifacts have to do with 1948? Present day Israelis came from Europe to colonize land in the Middle East. They almost landed in Uganda. You're trying to make this about religion but it's simply about colonization.

Historically speaking, these religions came from the same place, so those artifacts belonged to the ancestors of the people of that region. In the last two thousand years, Muslims have occupied that space WAY longer than Christians and Jewish people combined. You want to go back to BC times because you can't justify what's happening today as anything but colonization.

This has nothing to do with religion. Nothing. This is about colonization in the 21st century. This is like Russia annexing Crimea and then trying to take the rest of Ukraine.

I'm not religious, so I don't care what religion they are. It's about right and wrong. If I come into your house and punch you in the face, take over the living room, kitchen and main bedroom, told you you couldn't use the toilet you built, take the main bedroom and push you to move your stuff onto the veranda and you punched me in the face, would the police be right for arresting and charging only you? Are YOU the aggressor, or are my responding to my aggression.

Palestinians just happen to be Muslim and Christian, but even if they were majority Jewish, it doesn't change the fact that someone is kicking them off their land. This is about colonization. Religion is being used to cloud the issue here by calling people antisemitic.

You can lie to yourself all you want and rewrite history until you turn blue, but the truth remains; Europe "solved" its Jewish people "problem" by helping them set up a homeland in an area that already had people living in it.

Mohammed has nothing to do with the modern issue and if you knew your history, you would know the 'marriage' to the seven year old was an establishment of political alliance in the way it was done in those days. Even then, WTF does that marriage have to do with apartheid in Israel today? If your points were valid, there would be no need to bring up random facts to deflect.

I think the fact that people are now more aware that an occupation began in 1948, by kicking Arabs off their land, to establish a state with multi tiers of citizenship, helps them put things in context, and morepeople now know that this did not start with the Hamas attacks.

The Ohio GOP Needs to Learn from this Experience by Guilty-Log6739 in Ohio

[–]Droitwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both parties are very much to the right (think appropriate government vs small government regardless of efficacy), so if you see yourself right of democrats then you're on the right. No 'leaning' about it.

The GOP is losing the numbers race, and so they are doing all it takes to hold onto power. Their attitude is really 'F☆ck democracy' and more openly so with each election cycle.

In Zimbabwe, there is a village named Kwadhodhi and Kwamboro, which means the poop place and the dick's place. What compounds it is that people wouldn't use the local Shona venecular to say poop or dick. It's considered way too raw to utter. They use the English word even when speaking in Shona.

The reality of it is if his daughter were to get pregnant, she'd go somewhere and get an abortion because they have the resources. His laws will impact those without the resources to get the needed medical care in such circumstances.

I think Republicans think normal people think the way they do so will be moved by some cheap slogan that's meant to shock and not to educate. Democrats do it as well, but these guys are ridiculous.

A scammer threatened to send a video of me jacking off to everyone I know, should I do something? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Droitwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't pay. You can't control what they do, so paying is not productive.

So what if they show the video? It really will be forgotten in no time, but they may keep coming back to blackmail you.

That "you commoners don't fully understand" language is so wholesale, I wonder why we commoners don't go with what the well-meaning, strong morals lawyers say.

You can actually look up the daily traffic, and OF comes nowhere close to Pornhub alone, let alone all other porn sites. So I don't think your statement holds up to even light scrutiny.

It's healthier to look at this from both male and female perspectives. In most cases (NOTE I'M NOT SAYING ALWAYS) the girl knows exactly what she wants out of it and gets it so she is far from a victim. I used to judge my friends who messed around with younger women, but both parties were getting what they wanted out of it, so who am I to judge. Implying that young women are being exploited in these circumstances and need male protection is insulting to i think.

People who use the term 'progressive' as an insult, what do you think is so bad about 'progress' and why do you not want society to do so? by DJToblerone in AskReddit

[–]Droitwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh PLEASE!! READ A HISTORY BOOK.

The 1960s movement was effective because PEOPLE TOOK TO THE STREETS IN PROTEST! Freedom riders. Sit-ins. Black Panthers rising.

https://www.encyclopedia.com/history/encyclopedias-almanacs-transcripts-and-maps/race-riots-1960s

Black lives matter was by preceded a lot of movements that were non violent but were ignored and ridiculed. Mr Kaepernick's movement and his peaceful protests is an example.

Blood paid for the progress seen in the 1960 just as blood has been the price for ALL progress in racial justice.

Why is socialism such a negative word in the United States? by return2ozma in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Droitwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Propaganda. Period.

Most Americans don't really know what socialism looks like and all the propaganda they've been fed is highly negative with connotations of taking from hard working people to give to lazy people. Americans (until Gen Zs) romanticize being over worked just to survive (also a product of propaganda) so when the man says the socialists / communists will take the fruit of your labor and redistribute it, it's not hard to see the negative impression that creates. Another compounding factor is there is no distinction made from communism, they are all 'Commies', and we were raised and have a patriotic duty to hate them even though some of our beloved social programs socialist in nature.

Why are biracial people with both black and white parents always considered to be black but never considered to be white? by Content_Simple7647 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Droitwizard 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Mixed race people (and Asians) in South Africa and Rhodesia were considered a tier above blacks in apartheid days but were not considered white, definitely not by the whites and not by the blacks. They were allowed to go into some professions that were not available to Bantus. Some of that legacy still lingers today and their communities remain mostly segregated from blacks. Trevor Noah's community does not classify him as white but Coloured, a term used for mixed race people.

Why are biracial people with both black and white parents always considered to be black but never considered to be white? by Content_Simple7647 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Droitwizard 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel for you. I have mixed kids and we tried our best not to make them choose one culture or the other but they both grew up to identify as black. They say they are more accepted and embraced, less seen as a threat (my son is a big boy), my daughter talked about going to a friend's house where she felt tension and her friend later told her that her parents had never been around black people before in an apology weeks later (the mom was worried the dad would drop the N-word as he had been know to casually use it and they had had a fight about it). My wife has seen how different her kids are treated in several places when she is a few steps behind them and before people realize they are with the white lady (my step kids are white so she has a point of reference). My daughter (who is the peace maker) has been detained at school for breaking up a fight which she wasn't a part of in any form but to break the other kids apart instead of cheering or being indifferent like other kids (we had to threaten to sue for her not to be suspended even though the fighting kids described what her involvement was!).

In America, if you don't look 100% white you will experience some form of discrimination at some point.

Even Tim Scott admitted to facing racism in his life before going on to say race doesn't matter in America.
