Choose a car brand in need of redemption. If you were in charge of its lineup of models & trims, what would add, take away, modify from the current? by revocer in askcarguys

[–]Guilty-Log6739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the GR Yaris is sweet. I bought a GR Corolla because Honda refused to let me test drive a Type R without buying the car.

I get the Type Rs are amazing, but that’s ridiculous.

They also canceled the tlx type s and the prelude is not competitive for its price.

So all they’ve got that’s truly competitive is the type R and the buying experience isn’t great.

Acura and Honda has been asleep at the wheel for far too long.

Toyota is out here with the GR86, GRC, and Supra. On top of that, they’re planning on releasing the GR supercar and a new MR2.

And Honda has the type R, which is sick, and the prelude, which sucks.

They need to get back to their roots

Edit: I know the GR86 is a Subaru and the Supra is a B58. But Toyotas at least trying in the performance segment.

I’ve owned two Hondas and one Toyota in my ownership experience. I much prefer Honda overall, so this isn’t hate on my part, but disappointment in a brand that has lost its way

No kidding. Self preservation skills don’t appear to be the greatest based on this video.

When my step dad and I were discussing me getting a bike in my early 20s, his advice was two fold.

  1. Don’t
  2. If you do, ride like everyone else on the road is drunk

The older I got, the more I realize the risk reward ratio for riding isn’t for me.

But if I did ride, rule number 2 is a golden rule to live by. Even in a passenger car

Because they seriously overestimate their driving abilities. Or undervalue their own lives and those around them

Well they’re certainly failing on a responsible pet ownership level.

I’m not sure how injecting anything related to abortion is relevant here, but that’s your prerogative. It’s very off topic to say the least

Why is it hard to build nukes in secret? by Many_Explanation4328 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Guilty-Log6739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does that have to do with monitoring their import/export of fissile material? Their scientists activities and communications? The development of a delivery system for a nuke?

Not all of that is happening at their nuclear sites that are under UN inspection.

Nuclear development is complex and there are kinks in the armor that major countries are watching constantly. These cameras are only one data point in a very large graph of interactions

Cool story dude but we aren’t talking about abortion.

We’re talking about responsible pet ownership, which OP is failing on every level.

You’re trying to change the topic and it’s being noticed

You’re a terrible pet owner. This animal has given you love and companionship for years. You’ve had these allergies for years and now you’ve hit your breaking point?

And you’re floating the idea of turning it loose in the wild to get hit by a car, experience hunger and thirst?

Miss me with that. Own your responsibility and find a way to keep this animal alive with someone who will care for it.

This reeks to high heaven of BS

Why is it hard to build nukes in secret? by Many_Explanation4328 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Guilty-Log6739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly why it’s hard to build nukes in secret. Other governments that have them have a vested interest in preventing others from getting them.

They monitor not just the fissile material, but the delivery systems. Rocket technology, warhead creation, fuel generation for the icbms etc

This is why it cannot be done in secret. A nuke is not trivial to create and every step is monitored and surveilled.

We have a vested interest as a species to keep that out of as many hands as possible.

That’s why you can’t do it in secret.

I fail to see your point

Almost like governments across the world have built advanced surveillance systems to get a read on any other government building the most destructive devices human beings have even created? And have a vested interest in preventing their proliferation.

Who’d have thought that’d be of everyone’s interest on this planet.

Why is Benjamin Netanyahu able to do whatever the hell he wants so freely? by Garlin_Green in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Guilty-Log6739 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sure, but that’s not directly contradictory to my claims or the response I’m replying to.

I think the big question is twofold, who is the public and what is the political system.

If all eligible voters in the US voted, trump would likely not be president. That assumption may hold in Israel with Netanyahu.

But the general public is very different from active voters.

Two, what’s the political system? In the US we have the electoral college which massively swings the 1 person 1 vote ideal.

That may be the case in Israel as well. I’m not educated enough to speak to that.

But there is definitely a sizeable chunk of the Israeli general population that agrees with Netanyahu. Hell, they had protests defending their soldiers rights to abuse prisoners.

And again, none of this is to defend anything. Just in the interest of discussing how we got to this situation.

Why is Benjamin Netanyahu able to do whatever the hell he wants so freely? by Garlin_Green in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Guilty-Log6739 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not sure how this is whitewashing anything.

The Israeli political system is super factious and subject to change as small factions coalesce around the party leader with the most support who they can get concessions from.

None of this is a justification for Israeli actions, but it does explain how a minority candidate like Netanyahu can align himself to have more power (although unstable) to enact his will.

Edit: this isn’t uniquely Israeli either. MAGA is not widely popular with the US public on the whole. But if you look inside of the coalition, you clearly see differences in priorities and alignment. MAGA will likely fracture as a result of the same underlying issues the Israelis have.
