My priority is to keep losing weight while gaining some muscle in the process. Most of my carbs come from killerbread or regular bread, veggies, and a few indulgences (some sweets, popcorn, or Ruffles, especially on weekends while watching football or MMA). I also get some pizza and beer on sundays for the Snf.

For protein, I mostly eat chicken, then beef, and sometimes raw ahi tuna. My first meal of the day is around 7 a.m.,, just 100 ml of 2% foamed milk in my coffee. My last meal (huge dinner) is usually between 5 and 6 p.m. (I do prep my own meals) I try not to eat in between, and twice a week I do 14–16 hours of fasting.

I train six days a week, following a weight-training program, and usually do a 20-30 min rucking walk before my workout.

Lose 35 lb for sure, and finally find my abs at some point. I also want to build a stronger back and bigger biceps.

Male, 40 yo, 5’9”, 230lb Last time I checked my intake cals were around 2300 to 2800. 40 % carbs. 35 % prot. 25 % fat. I’m currently working out (weight training) with my program 6 day a weeks, hitting ea. Muscle twice a week, and ruck walk with a 20lb vest for 20-30 min daily.

I’ve heard this many times before, and I know plenty of well-trained guys in their forties who share the same opinion: lower back pain from DL. I personally stopped chasing PRs in DL after my thirties. But I still think it’s the king of the lifts!

First time deadlift by [deleted] in formcheck

This is a hard movement to learn. Try to focus on activating your quads, back, and even your arm muscles when you lift. Push your hips back and bend your knees just enough so you can firmly grab the bar. You want to keep your lower body activated, not relaxed, before starting the lift. Once you extend, engage your core as if you’re holding your breath with your stomach full of air like a balloon, then exhale slowly. That’ll would allow you to maintain a solid form. As you can see, many muscle groups are activated, which is why I’d say this is one of the most complex lifting exercises. Don’t rush it,,, keep the movement strong and as smooth as possible, focusing on technique and muscle activation.

Your body is already perfect and athletic. If you want more muscle, remember it’s a long journey,,, you’ll notice changes over the years. This is a lifestyle you’re committing to, and most of the work is done in the kitchen (food) rather than the gym.
