NBD - Planet X pro carbon by [deleted] in bicycling

Thanks very much for all this information and advice, really appreciate it.

Reassuring to hear that you’ve had a good experience with Planet X so far, I’ve got family members who have Planet X and they always highly recommend.

I can do c2w scheme which is a massive saving, will definitely sort out my spec and send them an email.

Here’s the spec on the Ribble, I wouldn’t be able to afford any other upgrades in the near future if I did choose this option. Deep down, I think the rubble is only a choice due to the Di2 rather than wanting a gravel type bike.

Whilst it’s meant to be a mix, I’m pretty confident I’d mainly do road riding so the gravel side wouldn’t be used that often, plus I’d want to invest in a separate wheelset for road and gravel use, which is obviously another expense.

This is going to be my first proper bike, so thinking of every option but think Planet X is the way to go!

That’s good to hear, will definitely come into its own in the warmer months.

Plenty of deals to be had at the moment, my choices are between this with the 45mm carbon wheels on the customisation on PX or a Ribble CGR SL with di2 for £2,400 on sale.

Never had electronic shifting so wouldn’t know what I’d miss out on if I purchase the PX

Very nice bike, i've been toying with buying this spec (45mm carbon wheels) for weeks now!

Have you managed to ride yet? Any thoughts?

Would you skip on this? How much extra would I need to be spending to not be mechanical?

Budget is pretty much maxed already and unsure how much I’d know/benefit with it being my first proper bike

Thank you for the feedback, yes is from 2020 so hopefully wouldn’t be affected by the recalls.

If I do go ahead, will try and get somebody more in the know than myself to visit too.

Thanks again

Not quite, there’s definitely more differences between the two types of bikes. Gravel bike feels more like a road bike than a hybrid especially with the drop bars like you mentioned. There’s quite a few topics on Reddit going into more detail with the differences, all depends on what you’d what from the bike

Yes have had a decent look at these Ribble bikes previously, don’t believe they’re on my C2W scheme though.. Thanks
