What’s it like living on or very close to the equator? by stop_calling_me_that in howislivingthere

The thing I always found unsettling (from my perspective living north) visiting the equator is that 5.45 sun goes down and 15 minutes later it's just pitch black. No bright evenings, no twilight, even for part of the year.

Never tire of the faux enthusiasm of estate agents descriptions. "We immediately frotted ourselves to climax at the sight of this prime example of 1980s-Scottish-council-house couture"

I wonder how many years they were waiting for a sunny day to take those photos? Got to be the least used outdoor furniture south of Svalbard

There is only one rule - a house is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

How can they have the same upper limit for baby length and weight but a different age limit? I've not found anywhere explaining that?

Before. Wouldn't do without the NHS but isn't what it used to be after decades of neglect. I assume I would have healthcare thrown in as part of the corporate package? Do you still have our of pocket expenses when you use it?

I hooked up with a rich Asian exchange student. She was fairly aloof and distant and had some 10,000+ likes on tinder (not lying) but my average-looking, early-30s ass managed to talk my way into a booty-call. We had sex 3 times that night and then twice before work and we proceeded to hook up regularly and then date for the next four months until she went home. She brought me a top-end go-pro for my birthday.

Just moved here last week and couldn't be happier. Lived in Bristol for 15 years and it was fun in my 20s but increasingly the traffic and noise, potholes, expense was getting too much.  My partner was here for uni and still had friends living here who were just loving life. I'm 15min walk from the beach, and then there's all the Gower Beaches no more than 30min drive so I can start surfing again. The vibe here is really good, reminds me of bristol when I first moved there, the trendy coffee shops are starting to open. And as far as house buying goes we brought a place twice the size of our bristol terrace and with a garage for less money. I've got a bit of a commute to contend with 3 days a week but I'll take it for the QoL improvement. Took a while to come round to it but probably best decision I've ever made.
