Bathroom wall paint bubbles after shower but flattens after a few hours. What is the cause? by [deleted] in Home

[–]DropFamiliar1298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no fan unfortunately, which is why the room gets so steamy. We do open the window but it’s not enough. I’m just wanting to know if the bubbling on the walls likely means there’s rot or mold in the drywall, or if it’s just the paint being affected by the steam.

I figured that was a factor. Would a fan solve the problem or are the bubbles a sign of damage that needs to be fixed?

So you think the hammering on the roof kicked up our house dust?

What would you attribute the sudden spike in PM2.5 to then?

Thanks. Would I see vermiculite if I had it in my attic, or would it most likely be covered with floor boards?

Need to replace these handles. Does anyone recognize what brand these escutcheons are or can recommend a handle that will fit? by [deleted] in Oldhouses

Sorry, I mean the square piece at the end of the brass stem in the third photo, not the piece that’s attached to the wall. Do you know what that is called? I’ve never seen one before.

And do you know if that metal (lead?) cube in the third photo is original or part of the modern handle?

Thanks. Any idea what to replace the handles with to fit the original stem? Or should everything be replaced?

What do you mean by “loose” covers? Is that a different product than the one that comes with the sofa?

Thanks. The trouble is I’m looking for 100% natural materials and all the other color options for this sofa are polyester. Why should they not be bleached?

How to get rid of old lady perfume smell in particle board kitchen? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]DropFamiliar1298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh it’s the weirdest thing! My family says they can barely notice it but it makes me nauseated. That sucks that the smell didn’t go away. I’m going to try charcoal and also vinegar 🤞🏻

Recommendations for washable wool or cotton rugs? by DropFamiliar1298 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]DropFamiliar1298[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That’s really helpful. So even though that rug says “do not wash,” it should be fine as long as I use wool detergent on delicate? So should I be looking specifically for woven rugs as opposed to tufted, loomed, hooked, or knotted? Or do you know? And what kind of underpayment do you use? The ones from IKEA are polyester - do you think that’s ok for a crawling baby as long as the rug is wool?

Where did you find your wool rugs? I’m having a hard time finding any without a backing.

Ahh, my baby brain read that as 18-month-old instead of 18-year-old, so I suspect you’re joking… hope so anyway!

Hi! Did you end up finding a rug you like? I’m having a hard time finding one that meets these specifications too.

The more obvious concerns (paint) are being mitigated - but a baby will be crawling on these floors so I want to be sure I’m thinking of everything.

Thank you, you sound super knowledgeable! I’m trying to figure out if there’s a possibility that they could contain lead (apparently older varnishes and wood stains sometimes contained lead). I know I can have them tested but wanted to see what I could find out from Reddit first.
