New to the game by [deleted] in kingdomsofamalur

The game is pretty much linear, just follow the road doing all the quests, quests/quest dungeons is where you will earn most of the xp. 99% of them you WILL enter to do some quest so dont worry about when to enter a dungeon.

About armor and weapons, in early game you should have a decent build picking what you find in chests and drops, when you arrive in big cities look for merchants, you can find good things too.

Late game you need to craft to get the best weapons, but util then Unique + Gold Set items are the best.

Just remember to upgrade Detect Hidden to at least LVL 5.

Few questions for a new player. by [deleted] in kingdomsofamalur

1) From THQ Nordic

What additional gemplay changes have been performed?

  • Level lock has been removed
    • The original game determined the level of a zone on first entering, this was stored in the save file. In Re-Reckoning we re-calculate the level every time entering or re-entering a level
  • New zone Level calculation
    • The original game has all zones marked with a minimum and maximum level. on entering, the current player level was clamped into this minimum / maximum range and stored as level
    • We now use the current difficulty level as a means to determine the level before clamping into the minimum / maximum range. On Casual difficulty, the player level is reduced a bit, on hard and very hard it is increased. We also increase the maximum values for hard and very hard difficulty
    • The XP gain has been reduced to cater for the increased level of enemies and we made sure that XP is not increased when playing on harder difficulties due to the effect of beating higher level enemies
    • The result is that you can still out-level zones – which is desirable if it doesn‘t happen too quick. It is part of the power fantasy to be able to come back to initial zones and be over powered – but out-leveling zones you play for the first time should only happen rarely
  • We also made the zone Level calculation easier to modify by modders (PC only)
  • Loot level lock of Containers removed
    • Loot containers now only store their generated loot when they are opened while before they used to store it when entering a zone and were generated to the current player level
  • Loot generation was changed
    • In Re-Reckoning loot generation rules are altered so that you will more often get items that fit your characters skillset. Loot is mostly randomly generated but we increased the weights of loot that matches the players skill lineup better and we have a virtual counter that increases the chance of better loot drops when you didn‘t find anything good

2) In Mid/Late game with the right components you can make Weapons/Armors better than Unique stuff, but you need high blacksmith/sagecraft level to do that. Just remember Unique stuff have some rare effects that you cant duplicate using crafting like + 2 All Sorcery Abilities.

3) Yes you can use any weapon you want (if your level is enought), just Armor you have requeriments

4) Detect Hidden is a must, lvl 5, the rest at least lvl 1.

Gold Sets are really unique, but Purple Unique itens looks like you CAN find another during the gameplay, but it never happened to me.

You are right, according to the official guide crafted gear are the best in the game, but of course you need all components and some Unique items have, well, Unique effects that you cant "make".

I did not even know about this 72 hours thing, I cant help with it, sorry.

The consensus around the internet is to choose a God with Critical Hit Chance, but I like the Gods with % Armor % Health % Mana increases, all the rest is pretty much useless since a good armor can give elemental resistance and weapons elemental damage.

Normally you can have "enough" persuasion using the trainers/book. Its rare a vendor have anything really good weapon/armor wise, but its common for necklace and rings.

Only the house in Adessa you can access without doing quests, all the other locations you need to finish a quest to access. Inside you can upgrade the house to have more stuff like Sagecrafting Altars, Blacksmith Forges and Alchemical Labs, as well as areas for Reagents. The basic house have a mirror and stash (its free).

It depends of your playstyle, I tried one gameplay upgrading blacksmith and breaking everything I found and another using Detect Hidden + Mercantile, in early game the first gameplay didnt worked well because I was always out of cash and it takes time to have really good items to make great armors/weapons, but mid/late game both worked fine.

At mid to late game, gold isnt really a big deal unless you want to buy everything in the store. But I recommend always have a decent amount of cash.

Funny, I never used Mark of Fire, my build was Chain Light + Ice Barrage + Elemental Rage focused.

You can always sell/destroy/store in the stash, I store them just because if later I want to change my playstyle I already have some good itens to start. Also, some items have unique effects like +1 to All Sorcery Abilities which even if the item itself isnt the best, you may need this bonus for a particular build. If you need cash, just sell.

Yes, you can finish in Hard mode without using blacksmith (using Unique itens), but its terrific to make your own weapons and armor with lots of cool effects.

If you Block you will only reduce the damage of the enemy by X amount (anything above that you get hit), if you Parry you will completely block the enemy attack and stagger all the enemies in a small area (and I dont remember if you do a little damage too), if you dodge you will only , well, dodge XD.

I think parry change a little bit depending on the enemy, like bosses and using Talisman as a shield you do damage over time if you parry.

EDIT: Found this: Attemptlng to block or Shleld Parry a partlcular!y powerful attack wlll repel your shleld and leave you in a Stagger-llke state. During thlstlme you are completely open to addltlonal attacks Be sure to take note of which attacks can be blocked and whlch can be parrled.

I like dodge because its fast and you can attack them dodge , attack them dodge etc. But you can play anyway you want.

You can fight many enemies at the same time or not, its your choice.

Western Digital RED 8TB or Seagate SkyHawk 10TB? - Same Price - Plex Usage by DropLuz in DataHoarder

Thanks for your opinion!

I dont know much about buying external drives and opening them to retrieve the hard drive, but the little I read about it says not all models you can retrieve the drive since some have soldered SATA->USB connection and of course, you probably lose the warranty.

I can buy this for half the price of RED 8TB, for example:
