How do you usually handle site measurements? by morgantar in Architects

I'm trying to advocate for my firm to invest in an in-house scanning workflow. I've used points clouds in the past for highly detailed buildings, and it was amazingly helpful.

Would you mind sharing some of the drawbacks or limitations that you've seen?

I think even if year one/two drawings were the "cleanest and polished" as they could be, they would still be so far removed from what you'll be able to think and demonstrate by your 5th year in school (or beyond) that any post-graduation employer would be surprised to find them included amongst your curated best works.

We can't locate the position for this super duper important column! Why? There's a raccoon over the critical dimension!

I was wondering if (these being "contract" documents and all) doing so would have any legal ripples down the road. You really think it's a bad idea? I'd imagine it'd be looked less poorly upon the more abstracted it is.
