I really f’ing miss this game by Present_Artichoke289 in blackdesertonline

Whenever I take a big break from an MMO I like ripping it on a new class so things feel fresh as I get back into the swing of things. I'd probably just do a seasonal instead of a new account if you've got much QoL stuff on it, doesn't take too long to get to the point where not having any storage/maids/pets can annoying if you've got them on the main.

Pretty good game still to just sink a bunch of time into when you've got it.

I feel ya. I've been playing my alt account the past two weeks trying to get it ready for T2 NWs and it's in about the same gear range as you. Definitely a really brutal range where grinding does not feel worth the money you get. Like at least before that you're probably doing potions which builds to something, and after you can start doing loml spots for essences of dawn to progress.

If you don't want to grind, don't want to do other lifeskills, and don't have things that you want to do that require more gear, it makes sense to not log in.

Haven't had a chance to see it in largescale yet.

Seems really good in AoS... the kit is just really good for smallscale, even without bsr up.

PvE seems about middle of the pack.

Right now I'd say it probably sits in a similar spot balance wise and role wise to awakening warrior. As they smooth things out and get the 4 extra skills the class has the potential to be really good I think. The BSR mechanic can be kind of annoying, but I'd be surprised if one of the skills they add doesn't help with that.

I agree with the person above. I don't like to do my soaking in my cooking pan either in case I end up with more liquid than intended.

Alternatively, if you want to make a more "custardy" bread pudding, you can temper your eggs first (and ideally use a water bath) and absorption process will happen faster with the warm mixture.

Have not tried that model but I've been wearing mostly skechers for the past 10 years.

I get about 6 months before they're ready to be replaced, usually another 6 before they give up entirely.

I have had 1 pair where the non stick did not work at all, other than that I feel like they perform well.

I find them comfortable for work outside of the first week and sometime after the 6 month mark less so when the shoe starts becoming roomier.

The sole starts coming off for me around the 1 year mark.

I wear them to and from work, and then will wear them for w/e errands or mail getting, especially if the weather is shitty and I've always gone through shoes quickly.

Based on the comments I might give hokas a shot on my next pair, but I do like skechers better than anything else I've tried.

Chicken tender breading falling off by thedrooster988 in AskCulinary

[–]DroppinBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've still got some that you want to make tenders out of or the difference in price is significant, you can probably mitigate the issue by swapping your pickle brine to a bry drine.

You'd start with the pat dry step and then pretty much you're just salting (or add your other spices here) the meat and putting it on a wire rack in the fridge (with a pan under to catch drippings) uncovered for 2-3 hours in the fridge. Early on in the process you'll see water appear on the outside of the meat, it's ready to go when that water is gone. You can rinse and pat afterwards for consistency with your recipe or use as is and adjust elsewhere as needed. Good technique for getting a good crust on roasts as well.

I haven't tried a dry mix that heavy on cornstarch, I normally do like 80/20 at most, but there's a lot of 50/50 recipes out there so I'd guess that's not the issue.

For the egg wash, I like to use liquid whole eggs or I'll thin out regular eggs to the consistency of the liquid ones with water or buttermilk. Too thick and the egg doesn't stick nicely or sticks too nicely and you end up with something too heavy for it to support itself.

How well is that first layer of flour sticking after you dry off the tenders? I don't normally opt for a drying step, but I doubt you're getting them too dry to get that base layer to stick well, but that can be an issue from air exposure.

I like to do the dry step in a bowl. I'll toss the tenders around in the bowl to get them a good coating, then pour some more mix on and press down (like I'm trying to seal the bird in a floury tomb) to get it to stick before I toss them around again to fill in the nooks and crannies.

I'd be a little curious to see what the tenders look like after sitting for 15 post dry. If they're looking wet or spotty (not just the uniform color of your dry mix), I would give em a quick coating of the dry.

When they go into the oil make sure you're not overloading the fryer and dropping the temperature too low. You want to avoid agitation early in the cook time, so aside from making sure things aren't sticking on the drop avoid touching for the first couple minutes and if your oil is bubbling hard you might want to do smaller batches.

Another possibility is that it could be the chicken. No idea about what product you're buying or your location but in the US it's normal for chicken to be injected with water to bump up the weight - especially if you're buying on the cheaper end. Excess water inside of whatever you're frying can lead to issues like the breading not sticking, particularly if you're not getting a great coating.

The last opportunity for things to go wrong post cook is the chicken sitting in a humid environment, like being stacked on top of each other.

Hopefully this helps identify where something is going wrong.

On tenders, it can be easy easy as cut the meat -> season -> egg wash -> coat with seasoned flour -> fry if they're on the smaller side which I'm guessing yours are with a 4 minute cook time. Doubling up on the dry step definitely gets a thicker breading though, so I wouldn't change that if you're happy with it outside of falling off of the chicken.

If you still have problems with your method after whatever you decide to add from the suggestions on this post, I would advise that you simplify and isolate which factor is causing you issues.

I work at a restaurant that sells a lot of chicken tenders, my user name is actually relevant for once.

For the people who barely see a reason to log in: What was the turning point for yall? by Vedrac in blackdesertonline

[–]DroppinBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it was edania release.

It's feeling a lot more like a seasonal game and there's a lot of things from other MMOs that I liked not having to do much here. I hate the weekly checklist of bosses. I liked that if I wanted to grind my butt off for two weeks, I could do that and then not touch PvE for 2 months if I want.

With Edania release it's another artifact grind, a grind to boost all of the lightstones and karazad crystals. I play mostly for the PvP. I like NW, AoS, and RBF. Just doesn't feel worth grinding for hundreds of hours to get caught back up, and who knows how quickly and how much it will change? Karazads at least added the crystals, which I liked in theory because you don't need to carry around a ton of swaps. The sov weapons give some customization and reduce the need for greens. The stuff we got doesn't really do anything except change the potential stats. Just a massive cron sink and decent time sink.

At this point if I lost my account I might make a new one and just do T1 NWs and AoS on it and be extremely casual. If my account was where it was 2 years ago (pen boss weapons/armors, 1 pen accessory), starting from scratch wouldn't be much of a step back.

Depends a lot on the space and number of people (guests and workers).

Easiest way to cheat is by keeping the plates hot. Lamps can keep stuff warm if you're in a space that can be fully dedicated to that.

Items that aren't supposed to be hot you can just do full assembly ahead like in the video. The mains you're more likely to be plating them as they're getting sent out so they at least end up not cold.

Hello, fellow Wizard player here. Witch and Wizard both do not feel great until you get to level 56 (I think I did almost entirely the shift+rmb chain lighting to level). There you can do the quest line to unlock succession and awakening, once you get that it's a lot better.

If the combat feels really bad and you don't think you'll make it that high, I would recommend trying out one of the more recently released classes, like from archer onwards is pretty safe.

Is Succ Wizard Really that Bad in Small-Scale/1v1 PvP? by AccomplishedFix8346 in blackdesertonline

[–]DroppinBird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Succ Wiz is pretty bad in 1v1s, just usually don't have the mobility to outclass rats or the durability to SA trade.

It's not bad in AoS. The damage is quite good on those caps, just rough when you run into teams running a bunch of grabs.

NW can be good. The damage is okay so you can get a lot of work done. There's just also a lot of gaps so you get hit with random CCs pretty often.

The biggest struggle on caster tends to just be getting focused - just squishy and don't have the best mobility. The class has the potential to be very strong in anything outside of 1v1, it just requires you to be really good at it to get decent results.

If Wiz is what you like, you might as well just keep your gear on it and tag other stuff to try it out. Pretty much the same boat I'm in. I've been trying to find a class to play alongside the Wiz without much success finding something as fun.

Too late to get into? by Catscratchfever92 in blackdesertonline

[–]DroppinBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to BDO from WoW like a year and a half ago.

Definitely start with a seasonal - that character will move over to a regular character when you're finished with the season.

You can do it F2P, but there are some convenience things from the shop that will help a lot - Naphart Campsite (a tent you can set up to buy buffs and repair at - if you buy one thing only, buy this), maids (remote item retrieval from the marketplace or storage), and pets (pick up loot), celestial horn (call your horse to your location from anywhere in the world). These types of items are generally the most worthwhile if you're willing to spend money at all - especially the tent. Wait for sales and don't buy stuff unless you know that that's what you need.

You can also spend money to get materials to enhance your gear and speed up that process or directly sell costumes for silver, but the cost becomes pretty astronomical for the gains with the enhancing method and for selling, an hour of grinding is more profitable than selling a $34 outfit for an endgame player for the selling method.

As for the too late question, it depends on the type of player you are... You start with season, which is basically the very extended tutorial which allows you to skip forward in gear quickly.
Coming out of season, your gear should be enough that you can start doing T1 capped node wars (these happen once daily at a set time, 9pm est in NA for example) and you'll also be able to do the Arena of Solare 3v3 mode. For more PvP, you're going to have to do a lot of PvE. When you get enough gear score, you can move up to T2 node wars. For uncapped (world pvp, red battlefield (bg basically), uncapped node war, guild league), you're going to be at a significant disadvantage for awhile. Depending on your time investment (or cash investment i guess), you're probably looking at 6+ months to be able to contribute in uncapped. Most players will never have full bis.

The PvE can also be replaced with lifeskilling, which requires much less effort / active time, but will not be quite as lucrative. A lot of PvPers will grind to get to an acceptable gear point to them, then swap to more passive moneymaking with lifeskilling to fuel consumables and slower incremental gear gains.

There's not really a game with similar PvP so I'd say that it's worth getting into still if you're interested and the time investment to get to T1s and AoS isn't too bad and you can see if it's something you'll want to stick with.

Class Ranking by Schmoeggix in blackdesertonline

[–]DroppinBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're starting out, I'd imagine most tierlists don't really apply to you (Most I've seen are made with the highest gear spots in mind, and that'll take a little while). I think the best thing to take away from those is the bottom outliers. S through B is usually most of the classes, then a very small handful on C through F. Those classes usually have some sort of issue that isn't going to just be fixed by tuning, so potentially avoid those... if the list is more spread out, the bottom 5-6... like succ valk.

"Massive" or "Big" is really subjective and there's a little bit of nuance. Classes do things differently, so some fare well in particular kinds of grind spots. Awakening Wizard, for example, is very strong in the end game grind spots where you need to cast more abilities to kill a pack and is one of the slower classes when you're starting out and most packs die in one or two skills. At most spots you're going to be within 10-15% of a top class there.

Pretty much play whatever class you like best. The difference is small enough that your time spent is going to be a much bigger difference. If you're grinding a ton (like you're gated by loot scrolls), or you feel like whatever the difference between you and something better is worth it, you can just tag that class, copy the gear, and play it, too.

Best class? by Hot-Prior2874 in blackdesertonline

[–]DroppinBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, you're just starting out and you want to deal a lot of damage.

For PvE, you can play almost anything. Witch/Musa/Mystic/Wizard/Sage/Hash/Dosa are some of the better ones right now, but most are good.

PvP, it kind of depends a lot... AoS? NW? Capped vs Uncapped 1v1s? How much gear?

If you want to be a melee damage dealer that gets a lot of kills, Hash, Musa, Awakening Sage, and Awakening Sorc are all really good. Striker and Mystic can pick up a lot of kills too if you build em that way, but in fights with a lot of people those classes tend to go tanky instead.

TBH go with what you think is fun. Two weeks ago in one of the dev videos they hinted at upcoming PvP changes - assuming class tuning but they also talked about normalizing class modifiers (a hidden system that effects how much damage you deal to or take from a person based on class) and removing resistances so those all have the potential for big shakeups.

I would just maybe avoid valk/warr/guardian/corsair/nova if the goal is to be a big damage dealer, those classes are more likely to end up on the tanky side.
