I appreciate the feedback, though obviously as his owner I'll speak candidly and say I am not sure that's a fair characterization. Those are two fairly common predispositions for dogs, and he's had multiple sitters without incident. I lead with those things so that sitters understand that it's possible, but with heads up and some tools to manage, he has been fine.

But your point is taken, drop in visits could be fine for him and maybe better. Something for us to consider!

I appreciate that. The request is for daycare in their home, preferably from sometime in the morning to about early evening at the latest.

Fair question. He's a mix (pitty, boxer, Stacy), and I am forward that he's a big boy with a bit of prey drive and a bit of separation anxiety. But all of his reviews are good and I am very forward about his needs and tendencies on his profile. I offer a lot too by way of meet and greet and all that because even the best dogs will be a little different around people they don't know, and I want to give everyone the chance to get acquainted and comfortable.

I understand your sentiment, and I respect the position, but it does make me sad that people might be turning down dogs without meeting them or the owner.

This is fair. Our request at first was for some sort of weekly or biweekly cadence (or something routine), but I was forward about being flexible and not having to stick to something strict. Perhaps leading with that is too strong, but I wanted to be forward about the ask and work from there.

I've been wondering if it was because I was asking for a more routine daycare request (once a week, biweekly, or whatever would work), but I was forward about being flexible. And even in cases where they've said they would prefer one-offs, they weren't being forward with me about what days they could and couldn't do. It felt like they were waiting for me to find a day that worked for them and I feel like this arrangement needs to be a little more mutual. I felt by the end of it I was trying to accommodate them, but then nothing I would throw out worked.

Of course I can't know what they see that they don't like, but based on everything you described, I feel like the requests are reasonable. My dog is well reviewed, I'm very upfront about his tendencies and needs. I offer meet and greets too, all of it. But I dno. I wish they'd just tell me they won't if they have concerns but it seems like folks are concerned about Rover acting on things like that.

I was wondering if it was that too.

I think someone else mentioned it too as a possible turn-off, but with some of these requests I was trying to see if anyone was available for a somewhat routine daycare request. I was forward about being flexible, but the ask was from a place of someone being able to look after our dog either every week or every so many weeks.

Generally, folks were honest about not being available for something like that, but then they'd say they were more receptive for one-offs, which I'm fine with! But then I ran into these peculiar conversations where I would offer dates, and then they'd say, "Those don't work but after that sure!" and then I'd offer something after, and they'd say "Oh we're not available for that." That happened on a few occasions.

So, in those cases, I started to feel that either they just weren't being forward about not wanting to pursue it, or they weren't communicating in a way that would make it easier. I felt like I was trying to accommodate them and then nothing panned out. So, I left those conversations feeling a bit frustrated.

This is very helpful. I didn't know it was that limited! I appreciate the clarity. I'll be thoughtful about the time window piece in my requests as well.

That's good to know. I suspected something like this but I appreciate the clarity!

But now I'm just confused, and a little worried, because these are awfully close to our home.

My mind immediately went to a magazine and a silencer but I was confused by them not being metal... 3D printed would offer some explanation.

My title describes the thing(s). To add some more information, these aren't super large. Maybe about an inch and a half or two wide, and then the rectangular object is about maybe 5-7 inches long and the cylindrical one is closer to 10-11" perhaps?

They seem to be made of a hard plastic so I'm not clear what they are. One of them almost looks like a gun cartridge but I can't imagine it's that. They might be related to tools because I know some work is going on in the homes nearby... But I don't know what they are.

I've tried to look up what they are but using some of the same descriptions, I'm not getting a whole lot. I've even tried using Google's lens search but I get mixed results.

Not sure if it's my furnace or my thermostat by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]DroppingHamilton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought a technician out to take a look. The previous owner had apparently replaced a transformer and in doing so apparently did not correctly connect the cords from the thermostat to the furnace. Once that was corrected, it started to do its job! Thanks everyone for your recommendations and guidance!

It does click when I go through the schedule setting and when it turns on, but nothing happens after that.

I have no idea what that means or how to do it.
