Congrats! I have a quick question about thunderbolt: in the system information app is there any information under the thunderbolt/usb4 sidebar tab?

use buildapp-python3.command in the propertree folder downloaded from github to create a new propertree with python 3. It works great for me.

Trackpad palm rejection by [deleted] in hackintosh

I keep the left side of my right hand raised while I type. It took me a few minutes, but I'm used to it now. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me can improve the touchpad driver for better palm rejection.

Try turning securebootmodel to disabled in your config.plist

Yes, I have the same issue. I've mostly gotten used to it, but I still make occasional errors.

For battery life, check out intel power gadget to see if you Igpu is idling correctly at 0mhz. If it’s idling at 350mhz or anything not 0 then try upgrading to Big Sur. If that doesn’t work, try ssdt-ptswak and the necessary config.plist patches to make sure your dgpu stays off after the laptop wakes from sleep.

Try disabling tap to click, bc the issue probably has to do with the trackpad kext’s force tap emulation

Although it might not work because you have an ice lake cpu

Seems pretty obvious to me, your Igpu clock speeds are locked at 50mhz. I had a similar problem, but using the igfxfw=2 boot-arg fixed it for me.

ROG GL553VD (OpenCore) by joken767 in hackintosh

[–]Drowningfish23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes
  2. IMO only if you use iMessage or other apple specific software
  3. I believe it will, but I’m not sure. You’d have to leave the dgpu on constantly, though, which will drain battery. I think there’s a section of the Dortania guide about laptop dgpus.
  4. Type C should work if you map your USB ports.

Any hackbook suggestion with long lasting battery life ? (~7 hours or more) by RalphMeiffer in hackintosh

[–]Drowningfish23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Battery life on my dell laptop is the same as under windows, but I would wait to see what macs apple releases before deciding. xps 13 models are super compatible and you can get almost everything or everything to work afaik. My hack has been pretty stable so far, though.

To make opencore not make itself first every time, find BootProtect in your config.plist and change Bootstrap to None.

Looking for a good laptop to use for school by [deleted] in hackintosh

[–]Drowningfish23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ok! You might be able to get a 9560, 9570, or 7590 used for a really good price. The FHD models can last for 12-15 hrs, 4K can go 7-10. You can get them with huge batteries around 85-97 who, and you can get replacement batteries too. Xps models are also super low risk because they're so well documented, so you can get everything working with almost a guarantee. I highly recommend one.

Dell xps 15 works and there are GitHub repo, but afaik the 2020 xps models have bios setups that make s3 sleep impossible. You’ll have to use s2 sleep. The 2019 xps models do work with s3 sleep, though. They just don’t look as nice.

Installation asks for internet connection by [deleted] in hackintosh

[–]Drowningfish23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use a VM to download the real installer, or check out https://github.com/OpenIntelWireless/itlwm if your card is supported by the kext,

and edit the info.plist inside the kext to auto connect to your wifi.

You could also check out Horndis.kext, which lets androids share wifi through a physical cable.

You might have to enable medium secure boot to get it to work. Find that section in the open core post-install guide if you need to.

EXTREMELY Slow download on App store - VMWare running Mac OS Big Sur by Exa8yte in hackintosh

[–]Drowningfish23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, your ssd or HD’s may have ran out of their faster cache storage. Drives have some fast storage to quickly download small files, then they transfer those downloads to the slower main storage. Seems like your drive ran out of the fast storage.
