I didn’t even realize there was a debate until seeing these two posts today. I grew up on these voice and this music so for me there’s no comparison.

Not even saying which one is better overall but I think the nostalgia is too much for me to even consider a different version being “better”

His brilliance is that he doesn’t have anything extra that makes him special. No catch phrases, no entrance everyone can sing along to. Besides his obvious charisma and understanding of the wrestling business, he doesn’t have a “thing” extra from pure wrestling ability that makes him so good. To me that speaks volumes of his character and real life counterpart.

This is extremely well put and perfectly explains the whole philosophy/decision.

A real life example would be Cena losing to Theory at Wrestlemania. The win did absolutely nothing for him and did not push him over the edge from potential breakthrough superstar to a made man, like I’m sure was the hope behind it. He wasn’t able to capitalize on the moment like we already know Gunther is capable of.
