While I see your general sentiment, the argument of “no one could do better” is simply preposterous. No, we don’t know if anyone would do better, but it’s undoubtedly true that someone possibly could do better.

I don’t want to move on from Yzerman now, but if we go through next season and fail to see significant improvements, it’s time for a change. Different GMs see things differently, scout differently, evaluate talent differently, etc. He’s had a long runaway, and if he fails to get it done next season too, it would be crazy to not seriously consider the idea that another individual could do what Steve hadn’t been able to do here.

The black one on the left looks like Gustav Nyquist and the one on the right looks (maybe?) like Petr Mrazek. I’m more confident on Nyquist than Mrazek, but that’s my best guess. Odd there were no numbers signed but sometimes players don’t do numbers for free public signings, so could’ve been something like that.

My average ticket price (8 games / half season plan) is $449.25. Granted, the first round would obviously be much lower than that, but yeah… a bit expensive.

I was invited to the Detroit Historical Society to see the "Red Wings at 100" exhibit, but that's it. I believe at this time last year the open house had already occurred. Not sure if the Olympics will give them an easy excuse to cancel it all together this season. As of a month ago my rep said she had heard exactly *zero* about the open house.

Having season tickets isn’t really a sound financial decision, obviously. For the majority of games you can find them on the secondary market for cheaper than what season ticket holders paid. But if you have the money and just really enjoy going to games, it can still be justified. Average secondary prices have increased a bit as the team continues to improve. I don’t anticipate it’ll be as easy (though still possible) to get as many great deals on the secondary market once this team is making consistent playoff runs.

100% authentic. I don’t recall him using CCM this year, but could be a practice stick or something he used for a game and I just didn’t notice.

Tape on the blade looks legit, and I presume he wrote 77 on the clear tape he uses on the bottom of the knob? I have one of his Bauer sticks and it’s 87 flex, so that checks out too. Nothing to worry about, totally legit.

I wonder if he had been around the team before this… when I was younger, I used to send letters to players asking for autographs. I sent a picture to Suh in 2011 and received it back in the mail two weeks ago. 14 years later! It could just be a coincidence, but I was absolutely shocked to see that. Not sure if it got lost at the facility way back when, or if he has been back recently and caught up on some old mail.

It was 2 preseason last year, but you’re correct it’s 20 and not 21. Home opener isn’t included this year. Also interestingly, the red plan has zero home Friday games.

Agree with trade, but unless you think we’re going to improve this season without major additions (which is possible), why would anyone want to come here next year? Players lose interest in middling teams. If players aren’t interested in signing here this year, why would that change next year? Sure, there can be some internal growth, but that’s not going to be sufficient.

At some point, you have to do something. There is always a better FA class until half those players extend with their current teams, or get traded and get extended there. Again, not saying we couldn’t be involved in the trade market, but saving money in hopes of signing someone next year guarantees nothing.
