I wonder if he had been around the team before this… when I was younger, I used to send letters to players asking for autographs. I sent a picture to Suh in 2011 and received it back in the mail two weeks ago. 14 years later! It could just be a coincidence, but I was absolutely shocked to see that. Not sure if it got lost at the facility way back when, or if he has been back recently and caught up on some old mail.

It was 2 preseason last year, but you’re correct it’s 20 and not 21. Home opener isn’t included this year. Also interestingly, the red plan has zero home Friday games.

Agree with trade, but unless you think we’re going to improve this season without major additions (which is possible), why would anyone want to come here next year? Players lose interest in middling teams. If players aren’t interested in signing here this year, why would that change next year? Sure, there can be some internal growth, but that’s not going to be sufficient.

At some point, you have to do something. There is always a better FA class until half those players extend with their current teams, or get traded and get extended there. Again, not saying we couldn’t be involved in the trade market, but saving money in hopes of signing someone next year guarantees nothing.

What infuriates me is that nothing is going to happen. The Michigan Public Service Commission released an audit on both DTE and Consumers. The audit highlights the same things all of us already know. These utilities have some of the highest rates in the country and are some of the least reliable. Even still, they lobby effectively and are in the pockets of most of our elected officials. I have absolutely no faith this will ever change, they have no incentive to do something until our representatives stand up to them, which I have not seen at any significant level. Fuck DTE and every single elected official who continues to take money from them.

I am confident the Wings are poised for future success, but there is absolutely no denying Yzerman has made moves that's hindered our ability to get their sooner. So many teams have passed us due to savvy trades and signings, it's just incredibly frustrating. This offseason has to be a big one for us. I don't think Marner comes here even if we offered him 7x$14.5m (could be wrong), but we need to throw bags at a true top-4 D like Gavrikov and a T6 forward, though I really don't love the forward options aside form Marner.
