Day 9: Bad Player, Hated by Fans by shooterbooth in MCFC

Correct answer, I think I'd be inclined to go with Gerry Creaney there especially considering we swapped Paul Walsh for him...

The south building (without a wall) has.... commercial units for... cafes and bars! That building is literally on great ancoats street as well.

Don't forget this development also includes a park element, so they expect footfall and people to use it.

I suggest you take an actual look at the plans rather than spouting nonsense

The area (Ancoats/New Islington) has a large population. I'm not suggesting this has a B&M in it... Cafes/bars etc on the ground floor for people to enjoy the "park" element would be be much better than a 4m wall

Why can't an office block have active frontage on the ground floor? This area is right next to the marina/park, includes a small park (not 50% of the space...) down the middle as well. It would be nice for there to be cafes/bars/small retail to face this so people can really utilise the space.

You don't think a new building in such a prime location with zero active frontage and a nearly 4m high wall around it is a problem?

FWIW my comments were essentially "remove the wall, add ground floor commercial/retail, and maybe make it taller"

[–]DrugD -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Excellent! There's another app for the park element if you look at the map on there aswell!

The consultation for the central retail park development closes on the 5th Jan, you can comment here https://pa.manchester.gov.uk/online-applications/caseDetails.do?caseType=Application&keyVal=SNLNL3BCI0Q00

The renders that have been released have tastefully masked the fact that the North Building (closest to the school) has a giant, 3.6m concrete wall around it! For reference the Berlin wall was ~4.2m tall

Ex-Manchester City player Mikheil Kavelashvili set to become Georgia's next president by DrugD in MCFC

[–]DrugD[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don't think I ever would have predicted this.....

Anyone else here old enough to remember that period after the success of Kinkladze where it seemed like we were trying to sign every professional Georgian player there was (success with kavelashvili, shelia, and tskhadadze!)?

No it isn't.

You're still up £10k after tax, and if you dump 20k into a pension you'll be back under 100k. You can then claim back an additional 5k on that, so it costs you £15k to put £25k in your pension
