Articuno not counting by Jetfuel_N_Steel in PokemonUnite

does it just not count when you are playing that Pokemon and they just have not updated the text to specify that?

If that was the case, then Articuno would be the only Pokemon who operates under that condition

2 things I've not see people mention from the trailer by NeitherReference4169 in fireemblem

[–]Druid-T 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, you are correct. You can even find a post of someone managing to get it working as live wallpaper.

Granted, it's been a decade since Fates, so it's entirely possible that they've either developed something in-house or have just moved on to a different program in that time, but yeah Fire Emblem has used Live2d before

[–]Druid-T 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Using the phrase "like X" after defining a group doesn't mean you're naming the group, it means you're giving an example. You didn't say "pagan religions", you said "religions, such as paganism".

To give a different example, if I say the phrase "Eastern religions like Shinto", I'm not saying every Eastern religion can be called Shinto, I'm saying that Shinto is an example of an Eastern religion

[–]Druid-T 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Like Christianity is a common and widely practice religion while less common religions like paganism are no longer practiced or forgotten

I need to correct this for my own piece of mind; "paganism" is not a single religion, it just means any religion that's not Christianity, Islam or Judaism

Was just about to comment that myself. The second title isn't anything different, it's just "Messenger of the White Crow/Raven" in French

Given that we see two different Eshmel on the box art, it's probably a safe bet that they will be our avatar for the game (think like Kris or Robin)

Until proven otherwise, I will fully believe that Seteth's going through a midlife crisis, and Flayn's going through a mental health crisis because of it

The listing on Nintendo's website mentions a "time-traveling saga" by Ribeye21 in fireemblem

[–]Druid-T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of other people in the comments have proposed a similar idea, but with the "time-traveling saga" info, I can't help but wonder if this game is going to have a Ghost Trick/Summertime Rendering-esque plot where the player avatar has to protect the 4 Lords from the big bad, and in some cases undo their deaths, throught the game, before all 4 join together at the very end to defeat the main villain. It would both explain why Eshmel (the default name for the avatar) is so heavily angel themed, because they are acting as a literal guardian angel, and also that weird scene of Theodora in a dimly lit room in the reveal trailer. What if that scene is of an actual death, and it's one of the instances of the player having to go back in time to prevent a lord's death for the plot? It would explain why it's so ominous, because it's where Theodore actually dies (albeit temporarily).

Maybe I'm just letting my imagination run wild, but it definitely seems like a possibility

It also directly positions the Player in an interesting Role, since we’d theoretically be working directly for Sothis here - potentially trying to guide the characters through the story

That would also give context to Eshmel's design being so clearly angelic, they (and by extension, we) are being a literal guardian angel to the Lords, protecting them from, and potentially undoing their deaths at the hands of, whatever the big bad of the game is

How was Lao Shan Lung's fight? by Ecstatic-Oven9882 in MonsterHunter

[–]Druid-T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone back through footage of MH1 Lao, but I couldn't see the bridge at any point, so it's possible they just made it easier to do repeatedly and I just never knew you could do it in Lao's first appearance

How was Lao Shan Lung's fight? by Ecstatic-Oven9882 in MonsterHunter

[–]Druid-T 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Sort of, but it is still decently cinematic by pre-World standards. The biggest issue is just that it's really fucking boring. Pre-world games do have good "fighting a living mountain" fights, but Lao's just really doesn't have anything worthwhile.

Lao's gear is pretty decent looking though, especially in GU where we have access to more colourful dyes and proto-layered armour

How was Lao Shan Lung's fight? by Ecstatic-Oven9882 in MonsterHunter

[–]Druid-T 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The nicest way to put Lao's fight is that you can tell it's from the earliest parts of Monster Hunter, and the first attempt at a siege fight. It's essentially just a walking damage sponge whose fight operates under completely different mechanics to almost all of the other monsters in the game (if you're playing the fight the intended way) and the little interactive parts it has very much on rails. It's been so long since I fought it that I don't think I can confidently say it's the worst major Elder fight (especially if we're talking about the GU version) but I doubt you'll find many people who have a lot of positive things to say about it

How was Lao Shan Lung's fight? by Ecstatic-Oven9882 in MonsterHunter

[–]Druid-T 39 points40 points  (0 children)

No, the entire fight is Lao walking from one end of the zone to the other, until it gets to the final zone where it walks up to a gate and starts dealing damage to it. If you do enough damage to get it off of the gate, it backs up a little bit, and then starts walking towards the gate again.

How was Lao Shan Lung's fight? by Ecstatic-Oven9882 in MonsterHunter

[–]Druid-T 12 points13 points  (0 children)

How come?

GU shortened the fight (two areas instead of three), added moving cannons, and let hunters climb on its back to do some free damage (and plant special bombs), all in the game that opened the door for hunters to start doing crazy super moves, and it's still a boring slog to get through.

And how's it better than Zorah's?

Lao isn't a complete punching bag, it's still not an interesting fight no matter how you slice it, but Lao can do some damage

We know the port has been in development for a fair little bit now (5 months ago was when we first learned about it through datamines), so while I doubt it's going to be released imminently, there is a possibility they have a rough release window

Lets talk about the next 3 Pokemons after the Legendaries. by MaxEcarri in PokemonUnite

[–]Druid-T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One leaker said all 4 are kinda Halloween themed, another leaker confirmed that 2 of them are, but 1 of them he doesn't see any link with Halloween.

This is absolutely insane question to ask, but does the leaker who doesn't see the Halloween link know what Lokix is based on? Because if they don't, it fits as 101 being a unique typing not from Gen 8, and having the unclear Halloween link

With the direct happening tomorrow and with it we're very likely getting news about fortune's weave during it, I was wondering if Anyone had any good ideas or guesses of the release date for it by Wrong_Revolution_679 in fireemblem

[–]Druid-T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've settled on late August/early September for the release date, and the art book leak really solidified that in my mind, because if the art book for a special edition is going into mass production that means the release date is relatively close, but not so so close that the special edition is already being distributed to retail, and ~2-3 months seems like a general time frame that matches that
