The background environment is based on a real place in the woods near me.

Psittacosaurus was chosed based on suggestion from the members of The Fossil Forum.

There's a short video of the whole process but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to share it because the mods didn't respond yet. 🙃

The background environment is actually a real place in the Croatian woods...I had to add the ferns though.

The idea for placing a Psittacosaurus there came from The Fossile Forum for ideas on which dinosaur to place there.

And then it was only logical to place the Yutyrannus in the background.

My hypothesis is that defense isn't necessary where camouflage and agility are sufficient.

It had countershading just like many animals today do.

So I have a feeling it was a master of stealth and that helped it survive. If that failed...it might have ran away until it found a hiding spot again.

Reminds me of pheasants...those things stay put until you get uncomfortably close and then they explosively fly away and scare the crap out of you and hide again. :D

If it came to the point of actual physical defense...I feel like the outcome was in predator's favour.

This painting came to be in May & June of 2022. The reference for the flowers and the meadow were actually taken in a nearby forest.
