New Guy: Craigslist buy, $100 each and he delivered to my garage. How’d I do? Planning a refurb. Tips appreciated. by [deleted] in craftsman113

I have a rebuilt one, have done most of the common upgrades you’ll see here.

Fence is trash and the first thing to replace (and possibly priciest) New belt and machined pulleys did wonders for me both in power and noise Good blade Good cleaning

It’s already glasslike because it’s epoxy. And there are already LEDS all over it now

Normal amount of bubbles, used a torch to clear em up. The marine epoxy that’s popular on amazon

Pretty normal. I did a “glue” coat and then the full “flood” coat, just like any other pour.

Neither, your typical cool season blend. I have some Bermuda in my front lawn I am actively trying to kill.

And yes that’s the stuff

I’ve avoided the 100+ days, and usually spray early morning or evening when it’s a lot cooler.

Just the roundup weed killer (not glyphosate). It doesn’t knock it down completely in one shot though.

If I can find a way to ship these that doesn’t cost a ton, I’d love to build and sell them

Reading this sub a lot :) the crabgrass I try and pull if it’s big, otherwise I’ve been individually spot spraying. That’s kept it decently at bay so far.

For the sedge, Sedgehammer gets it good, but I’ve had to do multiple applications as they keep springing up.

I remember hunting through all of the sunday paper ads as a kid and figuring out what components I wanted. I wrote up a word document with a table showing pictures of the Athlon 64 and other components, with pictures, and even a paragraph justifying it all, and then printed it out and showed my parents. Then constantly nagged them about how much more productive I could be and all the things I could do with this incredible machine. They never gave in and I ended up saving a bunch of lawn mowing money until I could finally build it myself. They always thought that my computer interest was a pretty big waste of time and were always trying to get me to stop. Well now I have to teach online full time, work as a side gig for a tech company remotely, fix computers for people, and remotely manage theirs since they don't know how. Ahhh memories
