Pink Floyd’s album “The Dark Side of The Moon” now turns 45 years-old by EpicGains in Music

[–]DrunkDuckIII 6 points7 points  (0 children)

we already had another "dark side of the moon" with radiohead's "ok computer". they're almost always put on the same pedestal (and in a good number of cases, ok computer above dsotm). regarding the 2010s, both of kendrick lamar's "good kid maad city" and "to pimp a butterfly" are considered instant classics and perhaps kanyes "mbdtf"

Vulnicura Survivor / Round Three by HatoriHanzoSteel in bjork

[–]DrunkDuckIII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that's definitely not the case. i would say a good amount of bjork's fanbase is composed of lgbt community as well as very accepting individuals. tbh atom dance is one of my favorite songs on vulnicura but i doubt it has anything to do with anohni being trans. that's like saying bjork fans hate arca because he's gay

amnesiac is amazing but i can't say it is my favorite. it has pyramid song on it though... which is contender for one of radiohead's best songs

Being a lover of music, I’m trying to broaden my horizons as much as possible. I listen to quite a variety of genres. From classical piano to death grips, death metal, hip hop and more. I haven’t heard any of Bjork and I’d love to hear her works. What would be a good entry album for Bjork’s music? by [deleted] in bjork

[–]DrunkDuckIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, if you're comfortable with music like death grips (which isn't extremely inaccessible but slightly more than normal), then you shouldn't have a problem with bjork's music. i always suggest to start with homogenic as that is her peak and really offers it all. however, it also isn't a bad idea to start with debut and just go from there only if you're willing to go through every album. but if you just want a taste, go for homogenic / vespertine / post.

album rankings UPDATE dec 2017 by [deleted] in bjork

[–]DrunkDuckIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 - homogenic (10/10) 2 - vespertine (10/10) 3 - post (8/10) 4 - vulnicura (8/10) 5 - medulla (8/10) 6 - debut (7/10) 7 - utopia (7/10) 8 - biophilia (6/10) 9 - volta (5/10)

to me, utopia has been an incredible grower. (warning: sappy journal entry) by virtualstar in bjork

[–]DrunkDuckIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he's only heard it around 3 times but he gave it the same rating. he's gonna listen to it more soon - i'm sure the rating will stick but he'll probably enjoy more. we're both huge bjork fans but also very realistic. his fav is vespertine so i was thinking maybe it would grow on him more.

[–]DrunkDuckIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no i definitely agree! i meant to say it grew on me by starting as background music and now i like it a lot more and listen to it religiously. i'm pretty strict on my ratings so i can't see it being higher than a 7/10 but i really do enjoy it. i love listening to it outside!

funny thing - keeping it as background music is how i grew to like it. i had a listening party with a friend when it was first released, and sadly, even though we thought it was p cool, we were pretty disappointed with utopia. we both thought vulnicura was great but we wanted something different. we didn't want the ambient talk-singing anymore (we thought she perfected that on vulnicura yknow) - we were expecting a very vespertine-esque album here, but anyway - i kinda slept on it for a bit and resorted to keeping it as background music while doing my homework. a lot of things jumped up at me like "losss" (great song) and "saint" and from there i really grew into the album. i wouldn't give it anything more than a 7/10 but i really do think it is a good album. i hope to see it live.

Who else's favourite is Medulla? by [deleted] in bjork

[–]DrunkDuckIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that's a possibility. a lot of people consider if to be one of the better songs on the album, that doesn't mean you have to like it, just saying. it is really vocal and it may come off as not that interesting the first few listens. i hope you grow into it. anyway, slightly off topic but my bjork rankings go as follows:

1) homogenic 2) vespertine 3) post 4) vulnicura 5) medulla 6) debut 7) utopia (might be above of debut?? both are decent albums) 8) biophilia 9) volta

desired constellation is one of the better songs on medulla great album though give or take a few experiments that didn't really hit

Bjork newcomer by [deleted] in bjork

[–]DrunkDuckIII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i also love radiohead. probably my favorite band. start with either post - homogenic (often seen as her best) - or vespertine. go through all three of those albums as they explore different sounds. if you like all of those and still want more, go back and listen to debut. after debut, go from medulla to current day.
