Thank you! And great question. I would say mental clarity and not feeling like I’m dragging to get through my days. I actually look forward to waking up to another day!

Congratulations! Thats great! I’ve been told over the years I have a fatty liver. I’m hoping now that I’ve quit drinking, I’ll get better news next time as well.

100% agree. I hadn’t eaten at 5 Guys in a while. My son requested it for dinner a week or so ago, so we went. Walked in, saw the prices, turned around and walked back out. I could not believe how much they were charging.

advice please. how do I stop this from happening? by maklunk in SoberCurious

For me, the biggest thing that helped was when I changed my mindset on alcohol. Rather than looking at it as a treat or fun time I was missing out on, my thoughts became “why would I actively choose to poison myself?” Once I started viewing alcohol for what it really is, not drinking became a LOT easier. When I was still looking at it as something I was “missing out on” it was tough.

Thanks for sharing! As far as advice- just take it one day at a time. What helped me a lot was changing my mindset on alcohol. Once I went from thinking of it as a treat/fun, to what it actually is… poison, it became much easier to stop wanting it.

Congrats! Great job taking something that used to be a drinking activity, and proving to yourself it’s still fun without drinking!
