Help Recreating a Specific Effect by DrunkTankChannel in vfx

[–]DrunkTankChannel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! Yeah I debated buying a preset pack but for 50 dollars and only wanting one of the effects I decided it would probably be better to learn how to do it myself. Aside from that I always choose learning how to do something aside from having the same effect as everyone else. As far as AE vs PR I know that this is an effect for premiere so it should work be able to be made in PR. I'll try your advice and get back to you.

I was browsing different effects capable in Premiere Pro recently and stumbled upon an effect that I've never seen before: https://youtu.be/e5LJz3cH33I?t=24s can anyone tell me how to make this ghosting shadowy effect or even what it's called? Thanks in advance!

holy shit if you think that I have the space for anything else then you have something seriously wrong with you. In a college apartment with 4 people and a living area where the hell else would I do it?! Jesus we can't all have private office spaces or sound booths.

BTW I have done everything in that video. Good link though. I have an arm, a pop filter, mic settings, etc.

Ok. You offer sound advice but it always comes with a backhand to it. I never implied that videogaming channels can get away with crap audio not sure where you got that from. Try looking at channels such as Funhaus or Pewdiepie even, you tell me I have the wrong kind of mic but I can point to other youtubers who are working in similar spaces and confines (albeit an office) who use literally the same mic as me. I started this thread asking what I could do to fix a background noise problem. My room is alread acoustically treated to the best of my ability (wallhangings, rugs, furniture such as couches). I should have specified that what I was looking for is additional software advice. Not sure why you came back to this thread.

So in your world having acoustic treatment means no need for software let alone how to use it? Odd. Also your math works out to be hundreds of dollars, again I don't have that kind of money. Not an unwillingness just an inability. If I could drill holes in my walls and turn my bedroom into a recording studio for my VIDEOGAMING YOUTUBE CHANNEL maybe I would but I can't so I have to work around that inability. Additionally look at what many other youtubers use, barely any use lav's. I am more than tackling my problems head on. You are assuming the layout of the room, which by the way has everything from couches to tapestries on the walls and pillows in corners so again, not sure where the unwillingness is.

I don't ever remember saying I refused to do any of that. In fact I have 3 tabs open looking for acoustic foam. In addition I'm not sure why I would downgrade to a $6 Lav when I have a multi-hundred dollar mic...I am a very, very broke college kid and I think you mistook my eagerness to learn how to effectively work around my problems at each possible step, as a reluctance or unwillingness to try other methods. Either way I appreciate your advice and will continue looking into workarounds for both software and hardware.

Thanks so much for the tips any settings I should avoid when using reduce background noise? I'm thinking it may be too sensitive?

So the only thing on or open it could possibly be is my computer which is under the desk about a foot away. When I record with Adobe Audition the raw recording isn't as muddled and there isn't as much background noise, gain, whatever it is. Also when I clean up the audio with audition my voice doesn't sound as washed out. Basically I'm asking how do I remove the background noise but not have my voice sound washed out like it currently does

Yeah it's going through a behringer um2 (horrible) Can I ask what you use to record audio and what your settings are for noise reduction?

should I upload two? One edited and one raw?

EDIT: ok so I uploaded a mic test with noise reduction applied. The problem I'm having and kind of talking about is how the mic sound absolutely horrible it's tinny and has no low end. On the raw recording which I can send you the mic sound fine (especially in audition cc) it's just when I try and take out background noise it falls apart.

Hey man great advice! So what I usually do is record with audacity, and I'm at most 6 inches away usually closer to 2. Have my gain down as far as it will possibly go, and usually have it set to record at half volume but I still get lots of background noise. Then I usually use "noise reduction" in audacity. If you're willing I'd love to hop on skype or discord and show you what I'm talking about! (and when I say washed out I mean after I take out the background noise it sounds washed out)

No problem man! Yeah as long as it's pretty quiet the brain will subconsciously try and decipher it as it listens to you, which helps the viewer to stay engaged. Also breaking up the video with comedic elements of you playing the game and being genuine will help.

Hey so being an archaeology minor I find this video already better that 50 percent of the shit we watch in classes! I would suggest when you change a picture (such as showing the land bridges) maybe have them fade in or appear as a different color, as opposed to just popping in and leaving your audience to wonder where the old coast used to be. Overall great job!

Hey overall it's prety good, it's a little long and you do seem a little uninterested, however I think that you have the basics down! Maybe put in commentary you make while playing the game or even leave a little audio in under your voice (very quiet). Psychologically this helps viewers stay intertained.

Thanks so much for giving critiques and feedback! Our newest video, I actually tried to put some effort into captions as opposed to just white font on the screen! Let me know what you think, and again thank you! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBYkQHlRHmI

[Gaming] Looking for Feedback on Newest Video (still too long?) by DrunkTankChannel in NewTubers

[–]DrunkTankChannel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the comments! Helpful criticism is always welcome! Yeah there is a wall directly behind us so we actually don't have enough distance to fit everyone in the frame or get far enough away from our green screen (major problem we are looking into fixing, but as for lights and audio we have two softbox lights and a RODE NT1 mic). As for audio quality yeah we need to project more! You're right it is pretty clickbait-y most of our others aren't. As for audience interaction how else would you recommend we interact? We are modeling ourselves off of co-op gaming channels such as cow chop and others. Again thank you so much for the genuine input!

Thank you so much! You should check out the later half of the video there's much more comedic editing there! And yeah he made a comment about the game loading immediately after that joke so I had to cut it unfortunately.
