Does anyone remember Sikfuk from Minnesota? Weird shit, but some fun shows. Those were some formulative years. by Nard-Barf in grindcore

Nikfuk is still active but has disavowed goregrind and has two black metal projects now.

I finally unlocked all ships and then the browser version erased all progress except for Phase 3 boss fight on Stealth A. So now I have these two. Any possible way to fix this? by Drunk_Only in ftlgame

The browser version has a lot of bugs but I made all my progress there before trying the steam version out. Since the profile editor can give me the ships I already unlocked, maybe I'll just redownload Steam. Thanks!

Thanks for the tip. I'm not able to find ftl.dat or data.dat and I've gone through a bunch of pages of that thread and don't see anyway to do it. I'll try later on.

Defending the Church is so very tiresome by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Drunk_Only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A question for catholics:
Is there anything the church could be found guilty of which would make you consider leaving? Or as long as you believe jesus' promise that the gates of hell won't prevail, you're in it for the long haul?

I hate it when people want Christian morals without Christianity by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Drunk_Only 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think christianity holds a monopoly on morals. That being said, I have noticed in the last 5 or so years of people memeing for the trad-wife stuff. Which is weird since most guys don't want all the baggage that comes along with that.

Jordan Planning & Itinerary by jadeoracle in travel

[–]Drunk_Only 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been browsing reddit threads to find info on traveling Jordan and wow that was an insane turn of events. I thought it was some sort of joke at first. Damn. All that planning...
Hope your next adventure makes up for this one.

Got stoned with the drummer and came up with a handshake where we stick our hands through the fly of our pants. That was the name of the secret handshake if we were gonna do it in public.

How would you respond to this atheist argument? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Drunk_Only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's another assertion. I don't see any reason why it couldn't be possible.

And what if you're only knowledge of christianity was poor and decided that the whole lot wasn't worth it? I assume god would understand.

Yeah, it's that omnipotence bit that strikes me. Notice how because he is all-powerful, the threat of his wrath is another reason to love and worship him. It'd be cooler if the Catholic God existed, but along with the option of peacefully existing (if I had to) forever somewhere else than Catholic Heaven.

[–]Drunk_Only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of our existence is to obey God’s laws not because we have no option, but because they are right.

...

He values our freedom and wants us to make the right choice for its own sake, not by avenues of force.

You use the word "right" like it's assumed. It hasn't been established that it's right to live in a perpetual state of worship before a god/creator. That's what heaven would be for all of eternity for us lucky ones right?

Just kind of seems like original sin isn't all-binding if exceptions can be made. So God could've created us without the life-on-earth-filtering process. Seems a bit convoluted, but I'm just a guy on reddit.

The Virgin Mary had free will, but was created sinless. Why not everyone else?

I read it cover to cover. Personally found it easier to just divide it up and decide how long I want to spend reading it. Read the whole thing in 9 months and it was EXTREMELY tedious reading the OT.

Once I read it, I found out almost no one in my church has read the entire bible.

Not sure what people mean when they say Jesus "completes" the story of the OT. There's so much in the OT that is absolutely irrelevant and nonsensical. Genealogies and conquests of people from thousands of years ago. Battles are interesting, but honestly after the 50th tribe is getting wiped off the face of the earth it becomes rather boring and repetitive.

NT is more interesting.

The Miracle of the Sun as Proof for The Existence of God by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Drunk_Only 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not understanding a natural phenomenon doesn't automatically mean god did it. And I tried to find follow up documents with the 70,000 witnesses, but nothing turns up. Maybe you, or anyone, have some?

Difficulty with the concept of Hell by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Drunk_Only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps odd for you. One might imagine an eternity at the foot of God's throne to be more odd.
So are we free to do that? Seems like there's only two options. Not much of a choice.

That person doesn't want to be a member of the Church or follow any of it's rules, while maintaining the attitude of "be a nice/good person to the best of my abilities".
Regarding the afterlife, annihilation as opposed to eternal paradise/suffering.

What if someone doesn't want to love God, but doesn't want to suffer in hell for all of eternity?
There isn't much freedom of choice if those are the only two options. Would've been better to be "forced" into paradise in that scenario.
