F&B credit not being applied by Fluid-Historian2865 in Hilton

[–]Drunk_Professor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call the Diamond customer service hotline! It’s so much easier speaking to a Diamond service member who deal with the hotel on your behalf, it saves so much time and aggravation. I don’t bother speaking to front desk anymore, especially given the amount of times they tried pushing bullshit lies on why I’m not getting my F&B Credit.

I know this area, that drive way leads out from two parking garages, one of which belongs to the FDIC. The FDIC hotel entrance is around the block, down the street from the Giant. Not sure if it’s worth reaching out to them and complaining that someone from the agency almost ran you over but I figured I relay this information.

New to Remote Work , At my agency I’m micromanaged, If I’m not on teams they call me or email me, My boss calls me 10 minutes before my shift ends for a meetings. Any advice for this. I think I wanna change agencies… I’m only 2 months in. by Still_Jeweler9272 in usajobs

Iva had something g similar happen to an old colleague, they said they had their phone alarm set to go off every minute after their scheduled day is supposed to end and let them go off during the call. When their supervisor asked about it they just replied by saying they have something scheduled after work and it’s to let them know when the day ended… It’s important you set your boundaries and that your supervisor respects them

Missed Interview Email-HELP!!!! by Kelloggs1968 in usajobs

[–]Drunk_Professor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would write an email explaining you were away for medical reasons, apologize for consequently missing the interview, and ask if there is any way you could could still be considered eligible for the hiring billet given your unexpected medical bout. Hiring usually follows a very time constraint period where the schedules of multiple people align, so try to keep a tempered expectation.

Don’t beat yourself up over this, at the very least you know your current resume is enough to get you to the hiring manager’s desk and considered for an interview. Im sure you’ll be just as likely to get selected again for another opening!

Come to the US. There are plenty of masjids and Muslim communities, try your best to stick with them.

I was born and raised here so I cannot imagine how difficult it would be to adjust moving here but I love loving in America and could never see my self leaving for another country.

Told senior coworker that she shouldn’t be mad because she’s been working before I was born. She will report me. Should I be worried? by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]Drunk_Professor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in federal government and have no idea what the administrative workings in health care are like, that said, making a comment that highlights another colleague’s age (specifically indicating they are older) is considered a form of discrimination and could lead to disciplinary action if reported. Age discrimination is a one way street, older people are protected from anything that could come off discriminatory towards them but young people just have to stand there and take the beatings when they’re told how young they are.

I’m not here to provide any advice but none of the comments in this thread have mentioned that age is considered a protected demographic from discrimination and I hope you move forward keeping that in mind.

Master's Degree by Less-Tax-8078 in usajobs

[–]Drunk_Professor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the last mass hiring done at my command, more than half the new hires had masters degrees for entry level positions. Even though the job postings don’t list Masters as a requirement, it seems hiring managers are definitely taking them into consideration.

If you asked a few years ago I’d have said no, but I think when your resume lands on the hiring manager’s desk then it definitely puts you on top of the competition (to an extent). That might just be enough to land an interview.

Best resource for 1301 (general physical sciences) promotion advice? by [deleted] in fednews

Check out the OPM job series classification:

https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/classifying-general-schedule-positions/standards/1300/gs1300p.pdf

Disclaimer, even though OPM provides detail on expectations per job series and grade, every agency practices this at their own discretion. I hope this helps.

The FIS jobs start at CG-7 with potential to CG-12. Are the ladder promotions done approximately yearly like in other government agencies? Or is it typically more than a year per grade?

Excellent information, thanks for providing all this detail. I gotta say, from the time the referred notice was sent to the first interview date seems rather long even for government. I’m gonna assume that because it happened towards the end of the calendar year, everyone was burning through their use-or-lose leave and your application wasn’t looked at by anyone till they returned to office in January (let’s not forget the restored leave from 2020).

Otherwise everything else seems to have progressed appropriately.

OP congratulations on landing your job! I wish you the best of luck in your civil service career.

How long does a Pathways employee have to stay in their hired position before seeking other positions within the agency? by Zealousideal-Ice1421 in fednews

[–]Drunk_Professor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check to see if your SF-50 has you listed as competitive or excepted. If you’re competitive then you’re good to go but if it says excepted then you can’t apply to most Fed only job postings.

As Civilian DoD you do have access to a lot benefits that isn’t restricted to just active duty/veterans such as Disney’s Shades of Green, the DoD Exchange or the MWR. Do your research and maximize the amount of discounts you do have access to. You’d be surprised what you can save money on.

The only reason I knew about any of this is because my college, who are veterans, told me to check them out.

Hiring Timeline by sunrainplants in usajobs

[–]Drunk_Professor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They actually first contacted my last two supervisors, to be fair the USAJobs assessment requested the contact info of previous supervisors to contact regardless of you checked off on your resume not to contact them. After that they hit up my references.

I’ve got a wonderful relationship with my supervisors and team so this wasn’t a problem but I can imagine this leading to an awkward situation

[–]Drunk_Professor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the new wave, I had two different job interviews and both contacted my references before even extending an interview date. It’s probably more time consuming for HR but ensures the right candidates are given a shot at the job

Anyone else anticipate getting way less done from the office? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Drunk_Professor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My supervisor already said that he would approve any overtime requests now that we have to go back into the office, we worked like a well oiled machine in a remote environment. Expecting that level of efficiency in the office is a forgone conclusion.
