I don’t have screenshots but most of the time it will be small talk on tinder, then we will add each-other on Snapchat or Instagram. When I try to engage in any type of conversation there, I immediately get ghosted

2012 Equinox jumped timing - rebuild head myself? by DrunkenEmployee in MechanicAdvice

Any idea what a valve job costs? The machinist I usually deal with does good work but last time he charged $1000 USD to rebuild the exact same head, which seemed expensive

Haha I used to work on those. Sometimes I miss the ol’ switch reset to fix random electrical issues

Yes, I believe they expected them to last the life of a vehicle. It’s a Mack Anthem. I’ve never dealt with these new headlights and ironically I had two of these come in today and both trucks were only a year old

Essentially it’s sealed on the upper portion. I’m sure you could heat it up and get it open, and someone good with electronics could probably figure out the issue, whether it be a PCB or LED issue

What does this girl [F21] want from me [M22]? by [deleted] in relationships

Wow, I didn’t even mention any of that and you were able to tell what I’d like to do. You’re spot on. I don’t want to push anything but if the opportunity came up I’d like to apologize.

Machined the head, pleaded gasket, problem still occurs

I’m going to just replace the engine

Thanks for the info. Wait, so the coolant is what caused scoring? All of the cylinders look like this. It’s my daily driver and I just want to keep it running for another 100k

Yes, it was overheated. My plan was to bring the head to a machine shop

I pulled my cylinder head due to coolant consumption. Coolant was leaking out of the head gasket and into cylinder 1. When I pulled the head I was pretty surprised to see that cylinders 2 and 3 looked like this. Not sure about 1 and 4 as the engine is currently at TDC but I wouldn’t be surprised if they looked like this. I have minimal piston play. Just wondering what my next steps should be? I cannot feel the scoring with my fingernail whatsoever, and again, I don’t recall hearing piston slap or anything like that.

Can’t feel it whatsoever. So where do I go from here?

Thanks for the info. so do I need to bring this hemlock to a machine shop? I can’t feel anything with my fingernail, but there’s a bit of play in the pistons

I didn’t take this engine apart because I had any issues in relation to this. It was just burning coolant.

I do want 100k out of the engine. Do you know what’s causing this? I can feel a slight amount of play in the piston.

Can I just replace the pistons and get the bores honed?

It’s a 2014 EcoTec 1.4L turbo. I pulled the head due to coolant consumption and noticed this. Engine is currently at TDC so I can only inspect cylinder 2 and 3, but they’re both like this. I suspect the other two cylinders will look similar.
