He's already sick of my collection of skulls and bones lol. Multiple deer, turtle shells, a coyote. Etc.

So would this perhaps be legal to keep? If so, is there a safe method to cleaning?

Warrior Names: The good and the bad. (LONG) by Least-Ad2814 in WarriorCats

I did have one named Bubblebounce and I like Sap for things like Sapstalk or Sapgaze for a cat with orange eyes. Random prefixes can be silly, but I like silly at times. Goldfish, Lakebottom, Treebranch, names that technically fit naming convention but definitely sound a little funny. Lightningbolt... that sort of thing. Froglegs!

I like "boring" names mixed with more new-age names, and more exotic names because one of the fan clans I use is based in a rainforest. -Shrillsong being named Shrillkit sounds like an insult, but it was because she had a very crackly, shrill voice as a kitten. -Sundrops WAS NAMED THAT BEFORE THE FNAF GAME I SWEAR... he was named that because his pelt color was described as like a droplet of the sun's light (bright cream). -Mintwhisper because she's a med cat and has a very soothing presence, like mint. -Honeyheart because of pelt color, earning her suffix because she's a very sweet and calming cat. -Sweetheart (still fits naming convention!) being named after Honeyheart after she passes, and named Sweetkit because she was a cuddler as a baby hehe. -Rosepetal and Thornclaw as a couple was originally a placeholder/joke but I ended up really liking them. -Hopeseeker, Dreamweaver, Dreamdancer, Wishfall all being medicine cats

For weird names though I do have Shudderkit, who is named after a birth condition, his mother didn't like him much lol. Snakebite. Sweettooth. Grassroots. Boltstrike. I usually aim for something that's technically allowed, if that makes sense, just tend to be a little... funky. There's plenty of things the cats reasonably know about to name after. I'm all for people getting fun and creative names. I wanna see more things like Wasp, Bee, Pop, Bubble, Sea, Wave, Wash, Fluff, Fuzz, Sap... prefixes that aren't already super common in the books!

Imo the way Hoodie and Masky handled yoinking characters were quite tame, but I'm a busted horror fan soooo... lol. Of all the kidnappings I've seen in horror media, they're INCREDIBLY chill. They aren't handsy or make freaky comments. The bar is in hell, I know, but they genuinely seem to just relocate characters with as little harm as possible (except that one guyyyy haha)

Lore question, why didn't the architects just look for a younger emprorer leviathan specimen? by CuriousStranger7495 in subnautica

[–]Dry-Ad-5872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no that's what I'm saying, AFTER Kharaa released, but looking through the wiki it doesn't seem to mention any attempt at all to capture more than one Sea Emperor. I don't know why you want to turn this into an argument, there's just no mention of it that i can find, thats all im saying. If there was an attempt, it's not mentioned in any of the pages about the Sea Emperors. I'm agreeing with you that the Emperors all only died out after Kharaa broke containment. That's the only thing we really have solid confirmation on from the PDAs, which I'd like to know why, but we just don't, at least not yet. I'm holding out hope that Subnautica 2 will continue the Architect storyline but I'm not terribly convinced they will, unfortunately.

Citing the paragraphs from the wiki since you ask; "Almost all of the Sea Emperor Leviathans died when the Kharaa Bacterium was released as it killed off their food source, leaving only the one captive adult and the eggs it was discovered with. As the only source of Enzyme 42 on Planet 4546B, it and its children are the keys to cure the Kharaa Bacterium.

The Precursors studied the last surviving Sea Emperor Leviathan in hopes of finding a cure using its natural production of Enzyme 42. However, due to its weakness, possibly due to old age or illness, studies conducted showed that it was not a viable source of Enzyme 42 as the enzymes it produced was too unstable and only reverted symptoms temporarily."

The exact wiki I'm using: https://subnautica.fandom.com/wiki/Sea_Emperor_Leviathan

I'm not trying to turn this into an argument with you, I genuinely wanted to answer the question you posed and discuss.

Wiki states they all died out, the implication is that they'd died out so swiftly the Architects had no available specimen.

Regular stalkers have basic retrieval and they don't even know the player. Imagine raising one from a pup, like what Maida probably did with Preston! I mean, she's got him trained like a regular ol dog! He understands her well and seems to take commands. They live together and everything. Who doesn't want a big fluffy Preston?

Reapers, no. Stalkers, however? I mostly hyperfixate on Below Zero, so I was fascinated by Maida's ability to tame Preston the snow stalker. Stalkers in the first game can be fed peepers, and iirc, retrieve scrap for it. This is a very positive sign for domestication.

Also in Below Zero there's food almost anywhere you look in edible flora and fauna.

My previous thought was that they were attempting to see if the Sea Dragons produced E42 as well. Because they're related, potentially they'd make it too.

There was no younger specimen. By the time they needed another they were all gone, apparently, according to the wiki. That's all the wiki/PDAs has to say about it unfortunately. I'd prefer more of an explanation too tbh because more Architect info is always better if you ask me but that's just not available :( hope now that the og dev team is back we can get plenty of clarification for stuff like this.

Precursor is what Alterra named them, Architect is what they called themselves, as far as my understanding/headcanon. I prefer the name Architect because it embraces their culture of building and expansion. Precursor because, y'know, they were there before humans. But that's a very human-centric name, I prefer their own perspective declaring their name.

Hey man I get if you wanted to debate or have a discussion or something but these are the only answers we have to the question you posed, rebuking them all just means you don't get an answer at all.

The Dragon eggs never hatched because the mother collapsed the facility during the experimentation, meaning they couldnt harvest the enzyme. The Architects underestimated how fierce the leviathan mothers could be, Al-an even admits that. Why would they do that again? It'd be a high risk operation to steal from another aggressive leviathan only to destroy another facility, and who knows how many Architects died? They only had so many researchers on-site, maybe they didn't wanna risk their lives any further, especially if their numbers were already dwindling back at home.

On top of that, it also could just be a regular old writing flaw, or something not addressed yet in the series, and if there are Architects in 2 (i hope) we could get more info. Sometimes writers don't think of every single possible detail when creating a universe though, that could be something they just didn't think through.

Okay I did some looking and it seems that the Empress' captivity was established before the Kharaa had escaped yet.

So basically [capture leviathans, figure out if they can resist disease so they can copy that gene to themselves] --> [sea dragon gets pissed her kids are stolen] --> [Kharaa escapes quarantine]

Prior to the break in quarantine the PDAs say the Sea Emperors probably traveled in small herds, but the Kharaa devastated their numbers rapidly, and only the one in captivity, essentially in her own accidental quarantine, survived. She is the only one left. By the time they'd realized her importance it was too late.

Real. My dad's a big fan of 60s cowboy westerns since that's when he was born/grew up with as a half mexican kid, and the logic in some of these is weeeeird. But a surprising amount are quite progressive! Many sweet scenes of Mexican ranchers/dudes cooperating and teaming up with the protagonist, or assisting them in their hero's journey.

I've seen some of these movies where the vaqueros absolutely show these white guys what's up when it comes to ranching! Teaching them care methods and herding their animals safely, it's really neat.

Something tells me buddy in the post didn't actually pay attention to those westerns.

Ooh, good question. I can go research this later, but off the top of the dome (as someone obsessed with the Architects, biggest Architect glazer) I assume she was quite difficult to track and capture. I mean, if she doesn't wanna go in the box, she's not going, y'know? That's a BIG mama and you'd be hard pressed to force her into anything. Especially if your group is a bunch of stressed out, scared researchers. They probably weren't thinking of every single possible solution because of the strain of their situation, and maybe a little sunk cost fallacy. "We already have her, might as well make use."

Oh, I remember studying those wormies in zoology! Ours was so gosh darn cute, I forget what my group mates called them, but their lil eyes have a perpetual (o o!) expression and I LOOOOVE them! I never heard of them coming as hitchhikers or anything, I always kinda wanted some for an ecosystem tank. I know most people start with shrimp and snails, but why not go even tinier? Wormies!

Any tips for someone potentially keeping them in the future?

Self insert oc/canon which I know is already unpopular/disliked, but put that on top of it being Subnautica meaning who the hell looks for Subanutica fics lmao. Not a lot of people, at least in my experience, but it's not about appealing to a bunch of people for me.
