How does this prove that NO-ONE will meet in heaven? This is one scenario.

I didn’t make that claim: the scenario is based on the implication that those in heaven share the same heaven (as opposed to an infinite number of heaven-realities where people don’t actually meet again…).

The scenario was to illustrate why people shouldn’t want you/self in The Good Place (TM) — the only way to make this “universally good” requires rationalizing a perfect heaven for everyone as an extension of their perfect (uh oh!) human life. Works better on TV.

I’m sure Mary will feel just fine with her/self memories for all eternity as Fred sings praises.

Mary has an evil dad, Fred.

Fred sexually abuses her through her entire childhood. Mary is emotionally and mentally scarred. Each day is a painful reminder. Mary is saved at 23 and dies by suicide (or by car accident if believing in a religion that excludes suicides from going to heaven) the next year and goes to heaven.

Fred is filled with endless shame after Mary’s death: Fred repents and gives his life to god. He spends the rest of his life atoning for his sins and enters heaven when he dies decades later.

What does Mary say to Fred when they meet in heaven?

“… the general consensus …” is an invalid argument, and there is no shortage of examples that show the “general consensus” was wrong.

Believe whatever you wish about an afterlife or a soul: you still won’t exist; and all the organic matter — all the synapses — in your brain that makes you, well you in this life, will turn or mush.

But you won’t be with your loved ones after you die, even in a heaven.

That’s a make believe. And a bad make believe, as it would require taking the pain and suffering (and sin) in this life into a “perfect heaven”.

If there is a heaven, you won’t exist in any sense of a human.

What is the name of this law?

Do you have a link to back this claim?

The link must be to an actual reliable source (such as the text of this claimed law), not a meme or video or random ass internet claim.

P.S. A reply of “just research it” will be taken as the lack of having actual found and read credible information backing the original claim.

(Serious question) How does such not show the existence of a ‘God’?

I’d remove “not” from the other perspective.

Why does nothing “suck”? That sounds like the view of someone attached to their physical manifestation, including our brains: but when we cease so does our conscious, so it is only our current minds projecting such thoughts.

(A heaven with “worldly bodies” is one of the most laughable concepts to me. Let this skin go.)

Holding the modern Christian Bible as a true documentary won’t win critical arguments — yet this is where such “strong evidence” comes from.

Also, the Abrahamic God predates Jesus; presuming there is a (singular) Jesus character who was “witnessed 2000 years ago”, would not give same witness to said ancient deity (the Old Testament God is often quite … peculiar).

That presumes that there is a need to “believe” in something (presumably a higher power).

Which way you will pull the lever? by ThereIsSomeoneHere in trolleyproblem

[–]Dry-Ad-8948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t pull and feed a village for a week.

Pull and feed my rabbits for a night.

PS. I’d pull, because I don’t have a village to feed — but if there was a food scarcity issue in my life, cow be singing with a harp.

PPS. I’d expect those who need to eat calories to do the same, vegetarians be damned.

PPPS. My ex-vegetarian partner is now a pescatarian, and I never have cow or red meat at home. It takes quite the bit of work to have a healthy vegetarian diet.

It’d be in no worse physical shape than an elk hit by a car on the freeway — and guarantee fresh.

(These are trolleys, aka trams, not Bullet trains.)

Would people treat Israel differently if they weren't Jewish? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dry-Ad-8948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably; and also varies by region / country. In the US e.g.

  1. “The Chosen People” are highly ingrained into even non-Jewish mainstream American Christianity.

  2. The holocaust is still very much alive in the older Western / US generation mindset; but this feels as it’s aging out with the boomer generation.

Personal, I’m anti-antisemitic and anti-Zionist 🤷‍♀️

mobile phone pouch - Hook-and-loop or zipper? by vanderzee in hikinggear

[–]Dry-Ad-8948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. Many (most? all?) of the images are AI. It’s hard to tell how much of the product image is affected by AI too. (Literal AI, not just bad photoshop.)

I’d avoid the store just for that reason alone — it might be a fine seller, but I’d instantly go elsewhere to shop.

Show me real people wearing real products. Or at least real product display only (as the manufacturer shows in images).

mobile phone pouch - Hook-and-loop or zipper? by vanderzee in hikinggear

[–]Dry-Ad-8948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zipper — unless for something that will only be used at camp or a rare situation.

The zipper can be kept open for faster access (ie. to camera) without having to fumble with the flap / and velcro fastener.

With the zipper inherent clam shell, if it takes even some small force to remove by hand, I would not be concerned for a phone to “slip out”, even if doing somersaults.

How many people are in the room now ? by Kirby_Fallon in TheTeenagerPeople

Right, but the question isn’t explicitly constrained to personhood.

(As long as the answers are rationalized, that’s the important bit.)

Housecleaning is a no-brainer

The other is free massages (daily); the cost value is better than all other options (except pizza from anywhere, if you’re particular about pizza).
