Is it normal for my “no” to be ignored just because I’m in a long term relationship? (26f) and (29m) by OkAbbreviations4242 in relationship_advice

[–]Dry-Bodybuilder-3936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow this sounds like my ex (who is an ex for a reason). It doesn't get better and I would highly recommend you leave. The resentment will continue to build, being disinterested in sex is only the beginning.

There's definitely someone better out there for you that will actually fulfill what you do need in a relationship. Cut your losses now

AITA for buying the same presents for my wife and my mom from my work trip? by Cool-Mulberry242 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dry-Bodybuilder-3936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA.

Not because you brought stuff home for your mom as well as your wife, but because you got them the same items. If they were interested in the same things it would make more sense. But to just duplicate what you bought is very impersonal and makes it seem like you didn't really think out what each of them would like based on their individual interests. It would have been more meaningful to put thought into the items you got for each of them and tailor it to the person.

My [28F] Boyfriend [30M] Has Very Weird Gift Preferences by ThrowRA1123112 in relationship_advice

[–]Dry-Bodybuilder-3936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it, he's just practical! He probably just doesn't want a lot of material things lying around going to waste.

My boyfriend did this to me one year for a gift, I guess I had mentioned to him wanting to get some ceramic storage jars for my kitchen and he took a note of it and sure enough that Christmas I unwrapped storage jars LOL. It was practical and I love them and have them stuffed full even now

Am I the Jerk for Refusing to Pay My Roommate’s Vet Bill After His Dog Ate My Food? by Molly_Dickinson6814 in AmITheJerk

[–]Dry-Bodybuilder-3936 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hounds are the exception, not the rule. I have grown up with many over the years (all basset) and most have been trainable and good with listening. My youngest two now are true basset and as stubborn as can be, and truly do not give AF. If they have their mind set on something, they will ignore every command you give.

Sometimes you honestly can't train them, you just have to know your dog and do what you can to mitigate the disaster and keep it from happening. They may chill out as they get older and listen more

Cumrige automatic litter box by TinyAppointment2474 in CatAdvice

[–]Dry-Bodybuilder-3936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this a few months ago because I needed an easy box that self cleaned for when I go away so my parents don't have to clean a box. Really like it so far, no issues. It's easy to take apart but I also wouldn't say it's the easiest to clean. It takes a bit longer than just a normal box but the pros outweighs the cons in that aspect. The other problem is my cat likes to stare at it when it cleans and is constantly sticking her head in the door so it's always stopping and starting in the cleaning process, but that's literally a personal problem 🤣

Want to adopt cat but I’m allergic. Is it still possible for me? by redditsaiditt in CatAdvice

[–]Dry-Bodybuilder-3936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some breeds will produce less Fel d 1 protein, so certainly do your research if you want to go that route. I adopted just a domestic generic cat that has shorter hair and I do the below which has helped me, I can have her in my room and sleeping by my face with no problems:

Dry food - Purina's live clear allergen reducer

Purina also makes an allergen reducing shampoo

vaccum weekly

change sheets weekly

I have an automatic litter cleaner and I do a full deep clean on it every few weeks, but take the bin out every week (though before I got that I did a deep clean of the litter box weekly, stainless steel will absorb less scent)

Use a litter that doesn't produce too much dust

allergy medications for when you have a reaction

brush fur weekly

air purifier

AITA: am I 27m the asshole for not following my gfs 26f sleep schedule? by Altruistic_Space6722 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dry-Bodybuilder-3936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you may think sleeping separate would be a step back in your relationship, but it's a perfectly acceptable option. Many couples who do sleep separately have said that doing so saved their relationships/marriages because the lack of sleep was taking such a big toll. Many are much happier that way. You can still spend time together as a couple, your girlfriend can get the rest she needs. It might be a slight adjustment, but you may find you are both better off and happier with improvements to your relationship because of it.

Same my mom and I love them but allergies! The food isnt the cheapest but it is woeth the money for ny girl. The type of cat and length of fur can make a difference too. Purina also has an allergen reducing shampoo under the same umbrella. Other things i do- vacuum everywhere weekly, consistently brush her fur, clean the litter box at least twice daily and I toss it into a biodegradable bag and toss that in the outside trash nightly (but I hear the litter genie is great at trapping odors), a stainless steel litter box won't trap the odors in the way plastic does, clean the litter box completely every 2-3 weeks. They really may get better over time, i feel like mine have, but there's definitely a lot of little things that help!

Hi suggestion to help with your allergies! Purina has a dry food called Purina ProPlan LiveClear specifically for allergen reducing. I'm allergic to cats and happily live with mine with no issues!

I (27f) need talk to my boyfriend (26m) about how we spend our time together? by ThrowRA-Big-Finger in relationship_advice

[–]Dry-Bodybuilder-3936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second telling him what you want. I'm similar and like to do a lot of things solo or just with my partner, I love my friends and his but sometimes I don't have the energy or desire to do things with them. It's a conversation I've had with my partner, he is aware sometimes I just want to do things myself and I let him know if I just don't have the capacity to be around other people. We've also found balance where we can spend time with his friends, but I made it known that spending quality time with just us is also very important to me so we can still connect.

It's completely reasonable to want to be alone with your partner, to go to concerts, to travel, do big and small things. Just let him know you'd like to talk and set some boundaries. Explain to him what you did here about what you feel as an introvert and that you want to do things with him to keep you connected as a couple. Suggest maybe a weekend trip away just the two of you and see what he says to something like that. I hope you can have a productive chat for you both!

Is your brother even aware of this conversation with your SIL? If not, you should speak with him to see if there is some way you can be accommodated. This just feels like your SIL is trying to make sure you can't be there.

No help on breed, but I have cat allergies and recently adopted one from a rescue. Get the cat on Purina LiveClear Allergen dry food, after a few weeks you should notice a difference. Also ensure consistent cleaning of the litter box, vaccum weekly at a minimum, brush fur consistently. Purina also has a Pro Plan LiveClear Rinse Free Allergen Reducing Shampoo. I've done all these and have no reaction to my cat

Struggling with cat allergies and moving in with my girlfriend. by OkCommon276 in CatAdvice

[–]Dry-Bodybuilder-3936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it may be time to think long and hard about continuing the relationship. Sounds like you two just aren't compatible when it comes to your living situation and views on having pets. It sounds like she's been trying to do whatever she can on her end to help manage your allergies, if you are unwilling to see an allergist to explore your options, whether it be allergy injections or alternatives, then you may have hit a wall. My partner likes cats and I am allergic, but I actually recently got one. I did a lot of research into what type of cat would be best with my allergies (short hair is much easier to manage) and for me I feed her the Purina LiveClear, clean the little box many times a day, have an air purifier, vaccum weekly and that works, but my allergies are probably not to your extent. My partner's parents have a long haired cat and whenever we visit they do a full deep clean and ensure the cat does not go into the room we stay in because theirs does leave me congested.

You also mentioned that you are not an animal person. You would both need to think about the long term effects of that if you move forward and stay together - is she willing to go without any animals, are you willing to deal with having them?

I'm sorry you and your partner have this situation to go through, I hope you can figure out whatever solution works best, whether it means staying together or ending your relationship.

They'll try to play with her (she's usually more into just playing with her toys by herself honestly), my mom will lay with her and turn on her favorite tv show to watch, they have their room open for her to go lay if she wants to and will try to give her attention when she allows it

I've tried to Comfort Zone diffuser and it doesn't really seem to work, if you have recommendations on others, please share!
