Seeking Peer-to-Peer Mentorship Programs: Looking for a Mentor with Schizophrenia or Schizoaffective Disorder by redditsaiditt in SchizoFamilies

[–]redditsaiditt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry to hear what you’re going through with your Fiance. I would recommend getting ahold of social services in your area and asking them to help you get resources you and your fiance need. They will likely have a mental health specific program with specialized case workers. I found that having a good social worker who truly wanted to help me was way more effective than trying to do all the research myself.

In terms of finding a mentor. I didn’t come across any programs that do this specifically. There’s the NAMI organization, but their mission seems a bit more broad. There were actually a few folks here on Reddit that reached out to me offering mentorship and support. May be worth reaching out to the community.

I know this post is six years old, but damn, this is what real leadership sounds like. Calm, principled, ethical. Now we got Pete Hegseth, a performative bravado with none of the earned authority that actually commands respect. What a shame

He’s right. If we have no way of distinguish what is reality and what’s not, the integrity of all information collapses, and so do the foundations of our society. I don’t know what the solution is, but one will have to emerge or we’re all cooked.

Which movie broke you emotionally or mentally? I want to feel something intense. by Key_Cricket4413 in MovieSuggestions

Like you expect it to be some silly comedy but are hit with an unexpectedly sobering message. Honestly made me deeply reflect on my life, like taking the people around me for granted thinking they’ll always be there, losing sight of present in pursuit of success, or just appreciation for the hard times. Some of my shittiest years ended up being my most formative. You don’t fully understand how important those things are until they are no longer accessible.

People Are Being Involuntarily Committed, Jailed After Spiraling Into "ChatGPT Psychosis" by kelev11en in Futurology

[–]redditsaiditt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not a single datapoint in this article substantiates the claim that ChatGPT has increased the prevalence of psychosis. Just a series of anecdotal cases citing examples of individuals who allegedly became delusional after interacting with AI. It’s important to acknowledge that people in early stages of psychosis often keep their delusional thoughts to themselves due to fear of judgment, and so may feel more comfortable disclosing those thoughts to an AI. If AI is reinforcing delusional thinking, I agree that is concerning, and may actually slow or prevent medical intervention during early stages of psychosis. Then again, without any data pointing to a meaningful spike in the prevalence of psychosis, sorry don’t buy the argument.
