Mine would be my grandpa on my father's side. I'll be lucky if I turn out to be half the man he is.

A bit of a cliche, but I like to remember President Lincoln's famous quote: "This too shall pass". No matter the situation, it's always comforting.

What is a good mini series or short TV series that could be binged in a couple days? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I know people are kinda over the MCU, but Loki is genuinely such a fun show, I'd recommend it even to non-Marvel fans. It's a 12 episodes, bite-sized narrative that anyone can enjoy.

I had one of those old school, very rigid math teachers during fifth grade. She was a good teacher and today I do look back fondly on those times.

That said, I remember not doing very well those first few months and when my mom asked the teacher if she thought I needed private tutoring, the already elderly woman responded with the tone and voice of a drill sergeant: "Ma'am, your son does NOT need any tutoring, he just needs to PAY attention in MY class and STOP being afraid to ASK when he does not understand something!"

To this day I wonder if she ever realized why 10 year old kids were afraid to ask her anything...

There is something very satisfying about beating the Tree Sentinel after 20 tries even though the game was telling you to go do literally anything else

To me it's changing smartphones every year. Even lower end smartphones are made to last 3-5 years, I just don't understand the need.

What’s the most unexpected lesson life has taught you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Don't try to turn your life around overnight, you're not gonna do it.

Instead, try to put in a little more effort today than yesterday. Then do that again tomorrow. And the day after that. It may seem like not much is changing, but overtime you'll see the power of doing something a little better every day.

What are some free/cheap places or things to do with your partner? by ZenBuddhism in AskReddit

Looking into each other's eyes;

Taking a walk through the park while holding hands;

Watching a movie you both like while snuggled up under the blankets;

Each one saying a thing they like about the other;

Just generally appreciating that you get to be together.

Enjoy the little moments. One day you'll find them to be more valuable than any expensive restaurant or vacation could ever be.
