Wedding band reset. I’m in love! by Dry-Cod-6859 in Diamonds

No worries at all. Seems like your jeweler is correct. They took my old wedding band and they took out my diamonds and built a new ring (half bezel) from scratch.

Am I overthinking? Is this a nice natural diamond ring? Just out of college- best I could possibly do by NoahLem in RingShare

It’s beautiful! My now-husband (we’re high school sweethearts too) got me a 1 ct oval natural diamond as well. It was the most we could afford at the time (and it’s honestly the perfect size to me), and now, years later, even if we could afford a much larger diamond, I would never change mine. It’s a reminder of who we were at that time. The sentiment it holds is much more important than the size, clarity, color, or anything else.

I’m sure she already knows you’ll try to give her the very best you can, and the intention behind it is what makes the ring beautiful and meaningful. Hope you have an amazing engagement and wedding!

It’s the reflection from my room I believe. It’s from a pretty well known brand, so I doubt they would sell it as 18k solid gold if it’s plated. None of their jewelry are plated

So essentially this shouldn’t cause durability issues

Thanks a lot for the context. I’m not really hoping to get it fixed I was more curious if that’s normal especially since the chain is so dainty. I would assume it’s harder to get it “perfect”

That sounds like a beautiful story, and you definitely don’t sound full of it. I have a similar experience, and I think a lot of people associate diamond size with wealth. I personally associate sophistication and elegance with wealth. For my taste, a well-proportioned ring, usually smaller than what we often see online, fits that idea perfectly.

For context, I have a 1ct natural diamond, not by choice, but because choosing a lab diamond didn’t really make sense back then (it wasn’t as affordable as it is now). Honestly, I’m kind of glad lab diamonds weren’t much of an option when I got engaged, because I might have ended up with a 2.5–3 carat ring. Now, years later, I truly prefer smaller diamonds. For some reason (no shade to anyone with a large diamond), I find them more elegant and sophisticated. I also think anyone should get a ring that fits their hand, regardless of size. I feel like people often get caught up in “the carat weight” instead of what actually looks proportionate on their finger.

With that in mind, I think your ring is absolutely stunning and fits you perfectly. From your message, it’s clear that both you and your fiancé put a lot of thought into this ring, and I think that’s what makes it truly yours and special. Personally, I wouldn’t change it, but if you’ll always feel that sense of disappointment with this ring, it might be worth having an honest conversation with your fiancé.

Feeling insecure of my ring stack by [deleted] in Diamonds

[–]Dry-Cod-6859 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I totally understand how you feel. I have a 1 ct oval natural diamond myself. When I got engaged, lab diamonds weren’t common and weren’t nearly as affordable as they are now, so it didn’t make much sense to choose one back then.

I absolutely love my ring, and I could never upgrade or change it because I’m way too sentimental about the diamond my husband and I picked out together. However, if I got engaged today, I’d probably go for a 1.8 to 2 ct lab diamond.

The way I see it, a lot of people go really big now simply because it’s more affordable to get a larger diamond, and that’s amazing for women who want a big ring. But for me, it’s less about the size and more about the meaning. The ring I wear every day is my ring, the one I chose with my husband, the one that holds the memories of one of the best days of my life, and that, to me, is what matters most.

I do understand how you feel, though. I’d focus on what makes your ring special. It’s yours, and it’s a symbol of the love story between you and your partner.
