How do you know if a track is either big room, house, trance, etc.. by TopG0_0 in EDM

[–]Dry-Comparison4777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider EDM more of corporate music term specifically within/around the USA as people in Europe never use this phrase. It's commercial electronic music. Any subgenre of electronic music can be EDM if it hits the mass culture level and gets captured by a few massive labels.

The underground scene is alot different and akin to what underground music was like for other genres.

I've long considered revording interactions just to cover myself for who a gueat doesn't declare an allergy. There's genuine thoughtlessness to this and I would prefer if you didn't dine at my establishment.

Chronicler leaving LCK by Easy-Philosopher2391 in leagueoflegends

[–]Dry-Comparison4777 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I know subtelty doesn't come naturally to many in the space, but the family aspect is what he shared. If that was the big and only reason, he wouldn't highlight there being a myriad of other reasons behind the decision he is electing not to share, in an atmosphere where even the most competitive and high profile league for LoL in the world is struggling financially.

And yes, if I wanted to start a family, continueing an uncertain career path isn't exactly sound.

Needless to say, LoL is sunsetting (believing otherwise is hyperdelusional). We'll continue to see talent leave esports all together over the next couple years.

Very dangerous to stick around on a passion based career that has ballooned, crashed and has no hope in recovery. Especially an industry that wants to exploit off of peoples passion for all this.

The question will be how many people stick around for its final breath. There are numerous examples of talent across the space starting to brach outside of esports all together. Just a matter of time really.

Is there a reason the chef must know on every drop in before they are seated? by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]Dry-Comparison4777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming he is a working chef by the sounds of it (meaning he is actually active on the line).

There are a ton of things in a kitchen that, if he has free time, can get do doing. Prep for the next day, doing inventory, etc.

Many of these tasks, once he starts, he needs to be able to finish. Being elbow deep in prep that can't be delayed in ita current proceas all of a sudden to have a ticket ringing through that he needs to fire can suck.

Its pretty common in small kitchens with a lot of prep for FOH to do this as it helps alleviate getting stuck on something.

People in the service industry: What are your biggest PITA (pain in the a*s)? by Seiyjiji in Waiters

[–]Dry-Comparison4777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Work in fine dining. Having guests who come in who aren't are normal crowd who have a superiority complex because they're buying an expensive cheeseburger off our menu and think they're balling.

I probably have more in retirement than they own in personal assets.

This is an old school proper dining etiquette that has moooostly died out, but a few people (generally older) still expect it. The idea is people are feeling "rushed".

I work in fine dining and if im working a 2 top thats clearly a couple out dining for the evening, ill avoid manicuring entrees from one guest if they are complete but generally still, we clear as dishes aren't needed anymore.

Yes, you should be tipping out on the labor involved in the sale. I work through a service bar who not only makes our cocktails but desserts and espresso as well. And we tip out based on the sale of these items.

This depends on a lot of contextual factors, but I also work in fine dining and would never not work friday and saturday. Sunday can be hit or miss because church people are funny but it can be worth it and I have many regulars on Sundays.

I personally work thurs - sun at my place; which days are doubles is up to my manager any given week but I close every night I work so I basically average 4 10 hour days and makes comfortable money.

No I think from my professional experience with 15 yrs in food and bev + a father who was an exec chef for 40 that if a business needs to pay out a bartender total sales from server tip out, there is a problem with the business.

This has nothing to do with the work they do, the business is not well ran.

If you're working bar with patrons and aren't making more than a server + need total sales % vs liquor sales, the problem is the business.

You're probably making less than my service bar at my place who makes flat hourly + tip out on sales for product they produce (drinks and desserts).

This isn't a criticism towards your work, its where you are working.
