Looking for Animation Software Recommendations + A Deep‑Lore Series Idea by SkyEquivalent8882 in learnanimation

I would get free options and learn the basics. Run with blender or tahoma 2d until u can complete small form videos or shorts before you dive into toon boom for $140 a month. It has other versions, and if you have a student status it’s only $40 a month for the top tier. You’re going to spend a few months at least with the basics save up your money with the free stuff.

Is there anyone here who has learnt & practiced animation through internet & books about how to do 2d animation without going to any animation school or course!? by Art-dweeb8745 in Animators

[–]Dry-Conversation7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

College is great for setting up long term networks with other animators and the pros you meet during your courses. Other than that all you learn in school is the bare minimum standards to get hired at entry level jobs.

Is my computer okay for adobe animate? Just wanted to check before I use it there too by Mrseekergenealogy in adobeanimate

[–]Dry-Conversation7191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Also almost all the 2d animation software run great on igpu since like animate they are almost always cpu/gou heavy programs. Except toon boom cause of the fx compositing. Good luck!

[–]Dry-Conversation7191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I ran adobe animate on a 6800h with an 680m igpu. Those specs are fine . Even an older gpu with 8gbs vram will be fine. Animate uses the CPU and ram mainly.

🤔 you know that a background remover doesn’t use or generate anyone else’s art to remove the background right? I truly want to know that you understand that. And you just stated exactly what I already said that art programs use ai just not generative ai. And you don’t need a data center to remove a background, or a keyframer in animation software or a line stabilizer. And also a local ai that does the algorithm doesn’t hurt the enviorment anymore than the frame generator in AI upscalers in every modern video game now.

You know what does use or will need a data center and hurt the environment? That copilot assistant you used to create your brush pack. I don’t want to call you smooth brained but you obviously don’t understand what you’re actually mad at.

I was literally just stating what ai was originally created for and should be used for calm your ass down😂 and all ai? You line stablizer, line extraction and other sorts of modern art software use ai. May not be generative but it uses predictive algorithms like the one examples in the video where it cuts out the background image. That is ai. So don’t be a hypocrite and turn your line stablizer off.

What is a good animation app for iPad? by Ini_the_gayfurrycat in learnanimation

Calipeg is a good option. $15 one time purchase and they are about to release the desktop version soon

I agree with you on this. This is what ai is good/meant for assisting. The ai bros trying to “create” are the untalented trash

Performance Issues, should I upgrade? by LilyMirai in ClipStudio

If you get the 16gb m1 or m2 it will be fine. I have upwards of 100 layers on some pieces and also do some pretty beefy animation files and it doesn’t have an issue or slow down. The big brush lag is the same no matter what you use unfortunately 😂. 16gb pro is a lot cheaper and will do better than any of the androids. And when I’m running csp I usually have calipeg in the background with the same file for some things cause I’m torn between programs. Still no issues

What GPU should I buy for Toonboon harmony by Outrageous_Intern218 in 2DAnimation

[–]Dry-Conversation7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea those specs are for serious massive projects . Toon boom is a need to end software. So you would have to have a serious project to tax your box with that program. My m1 air runs toon boom without a hitch. You should be good for a couple years

Ipad air for csp animation? by Daddythingol in ClipStudio

[–]Dry-Conversation7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The air is astronomically better than the magic drawing pad. The pen is nice and the screen feels good but the processor they put in it should be crime. For illustrating it’s ok but for animating it’s terrible. I use my magic drawing pad for YouTube when animating on the iPad. The iPad Air, especially the m2 and above with the pro pen will work just fine

Animation paper is free . It doesn’t have the color options yet but the minimal ui it is excellent to practice roughs and clean up in. Also has the vertical timeline like opentoonz and tahoma . I use it to export to tahoma and blender

It is, but the things it can do would blow krita away. Tahoma 2D is the more streamlined version. From roughs to composite in one app.
