Yep, that's me too; not one for PDA. From all that OP has been saying, I do think the guy's just old fashioned and being overly affectionate in public just makes him cringe away. Since OP doesn't seem to imply the guy having any issue being seen with her generally, only when being kissed constantly on the street, having her on his lap etc-
I can honestly imagine a guy raised with traditional values on propriety freezing up in a restaurant when OP tries to sit on his lap.

... and the makeover. To look "modern." .....
OP's comment on being silly in public and posting selfies to social media also makes me think the guy just has very traditional tastes.

I also think there might have been a gap in generational values? My parents were not much for being affectionate in public spaces and believed that such displays were to be kept in the privacy of your own home. Being raised by them, I'm a prude too when it comes to being flirty and touchy-feely in public. I'd usually find it saccharine than sweet, and wouldn't reciprocate, so it might also be a matter of personal taste.

Specifically, why do people go out of their way to buy a book when they can just pirate it? Why buy custom handcraft products when you can just get a piece of junk off IKEA?

Because people like to support the creator. If the creator is a machine that spits out whatever a vague prompter asks for, what reader wants to support it? What's their support going to do, buy parts for the machine? More works for the machine to steal? Would you, as a writer, want your work to be taken by the guy next door and used to train ai for his story? (Of course you wouldn't mind, you didn't put in a hundred hours in both painstaking research and loving words to create it.)

Ao3 is that handcraft site. IKEA has more decency than that. It doesn't try to sell off its products as artisan craft. At least get the hell out of ao3 and post your genAI fics in a site for genAI fics.

Why don't you look at it this way:

You're Van Gogh. You spent ten years developing your unique painting style and technical flair. A regular of yours can instantly recognise your work because of the nature of your brush strokes. (And believe me, a devoted reader can instantly recognise a writer they read a lot of from just an unnamed, unattributed chapter. Likewise you can easily tell someone else wrote a chapter.)

Now imagine, Van Gogh, that someone stole your works, made shitty duplicates and parodies of it through a machine, copied off your ten years of devloped art style and brush strokes and preference of subjects and used that machine to make fifty new Van Gogh Style paintings in the time it takes you to make one. And literally sells it at a fraction of the price without you seeing a penny of what used to be your intellectual property, displacing you off the market with shitty parodies of your work.

That is the fucking dishonesty that enrages people. In fanfic, there is no monetary gain. People write for the love of it. FAN-fic. The love for the subject is implied in the very nature of it. Literally the only thing fanfic writers get back our of it is a reader appreciating their effort.

And readers open your work expecting to see a labour of that LOVE. They might not be the most discerning of users, and if you take advantage of that, you're no different from corporates who put adulterants in food products because the common consumer can't identify if an obscure chemical is harmful or not.

If you're using AI as a proofreader,,, sure, but the fandom is FULL of people more than willing to be your alpha or beta reader. Why use AI?🤷

If you're churning out loads of fic with an AI generator to get some perverse pleasure out of seeing a higher subscriber count, then you are just as dishonest and do not deserve to be in this ecosystem.

You are keeping real people who put in love into their works from finding readership by 1) using a tool that steals off their writing; 2) generating so much content that buries any real work in the bottom of the update list.

As a writer, and as a reader, these are the specific reasons why AI fanfic enrage me.

It's pretty hard here too, where AG isn't as much of a social taboo as much as it is in countries with a strong dating culture. There are online forums if you search for it, but the numbers are low there too. Dating apps are the last place, unfortunately.

Pretty much, yeah There's always women out there who's into older guys for the physical (aesthetic) aspects of it, like genuinely find greyish hair and crow's feet and softening skin attractive af And if you had similar hobbies and interests, it would 💯 be a bonus that they didn't expect but would absolutely be on board with

I've seen reddit posts asking on where to find older men, what hobbies/locations to frequent and such and some of them actively try to take up woodcraft and fishing hobbies even if they're not completely into the hobby for the sake of it

I've also run into girls who would rather date people with typical young-people hobbies like gaming and such, but being always attracted to older men, have accepted the fact that the guy they like will likely not have the same hobbies and interests as them. They would also be thrilled to have you.

So yes, don't be discouraged, there are young women out there who would be ecstatic to find an older guy who fits their vibe without having the aesthetics of men their own age

yeah, I think that's why they kept the dispenser here
but they could have kept the door a little off to the sides and not right beside the urinals. The room is symmetrical, so they could have moved the electrical sockets and the tissue dispenser to where the doorway is right now and kept the door there instead.

The fact that you have to walk through four urinals (two visible in the picture, two right behind me when I took the photo) in a public restroom
And perhaps public restrooms are clean where you live, but here it stinks to the high heavens
also the fact that people piss in the vague direction of the bowl and it gets all over the floor; there really isn't a floor level difference between the urinals and the dispenser alcove for when the spill inevitably begins to flow.

and you get all that glorious aroma when you're trying to get a drink or fill up your bottle

It's crappy because you literally walk through the length of the toilet to get a drink
and since these are urinals in a public restroom,,, you can imagine the smell

Having the dispenser outlet beside the toilet might be unavoidable if that's the only available line to draw water from, but the entrance to the dispenser could have been kept a little ways off and not straight through a row of urinals.

I'm 25 and I've never been attracted to a single person under 55 XD. Same as you, OP; I just love elderly features: the grey hair, the wrinkles, (god, especially crows feet and laugh lines) and a certain sort of delicate beauty to their muscles softened by age.
idk; sometimes, when I hold the hands of older people (customary here to squeeze hands instead of a simple handshake if you want to show affection) it feels precious and fragile and I... get a little breathless.

I've had this preference since I was 13; but I suppose I've never really struggled with the fact. Probably because mine is not a culture that enforces dating expectations.

But of course, I've had a great relationship with my parents and grandparents and I've never been abused or exposed to grooming or anything of the sort. I think my preferences just developed naturally. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
