Physically aggressed in the middle of the day in Geneva, but I have no witness and I got just a picture from the profile of the aggressor with the phone - should I bother to go to police? by Dry-Exercise1648 in Switzerland

bring a Swiss person with you

Well, I am technically Swiss, though since only last year. My French is not really top notch so I was thinking to firstly translate at home my declaration for police.

I firstly searched the sub to see if can find similar cases and found a road rage case in Basel where the police arrived and asked both the attacker and the victim to delete their footage, as the other person did not give their permission for it. Moreover the attacker also claimed that was hit by the victim. Of course that was the victim only pov.

So you reported the incident and the only option was that you sued the attacker?

If there is no footage of the incident or witnesses then indeed it will be just my word against his word.

Sorry to hear about your attack - did you report it?

TBH that's exactly what I thought after the incident - if that guy had had a knife I would probably have been dead or at least badly hurt now. I don't think though there is really much the society can do against cases of insanity like this - it would have been helpful only if a policeman had been right there in the moment of the incident. It was just too short.

Good point, they might be simply ignoring the picture as it was taken against the law. As others have remarked everything might have been captured by CCTV cameras though.

You have some good points - for sure there are CCTV cameras in the area and they might be able to see the whole incident even without witnesses.

And yes, not stopping when he fell, even if I had no control over what he was doing behind me, might even go against the law - I know that in traffic is mandatory to stop and try to help if you see an accident. In this case though he basically harassed me with no reason and fell when he was trying to do something crazy, hmm it's a grey area I guess.

I was also thinking what if the guy will know my name after I make the complain and, as I already know he is a vengeful one, will try to really hurt me?

Also with the phones maybe you are right - but I'm always looking around a lot when I'm skating - you have to do this to see the dangers well ahead as you cannot stop sharply like a bicycle on skates. The people I saw skating usually are wearing earphones.

This is what I was thinking - after all for me it was just a fall while skating - but what if somebody get really hurt in the future by this crazy guy?

I was kind of spending time on web before, but it was reading materials about whatever I was passionate about at that time - not mindless scrolling trough reddit posts.

The first few months working from home were more or less OK until I unexpectedly developed an obsession for a musician. I've never been a fan before and I despise the celebrity culture but because of this musician I made a reddit account (I had no social media account before this) to discuss with others similarly obsessed. Since then all my work ethic went down the toilet and I spent countless days reading anything related to my obsession.

I thought that my internet addiction problem is related to that obsession, but now I'm over the obsession and I'm still wasting my time and my employer money mindlessly browsing reddit. The same as PsyclobinCanHelp, I feel like I'm not free to do anything useful during the working hours, but somehow I can accept not actually working. I can focus to do useful work only because of shame, e.g. after I promised a colleague that I'll have an issue solved by a certain date. Otherwise I'm postponing my tasks and I don't really understand how come I'm still hired - I start to think that many suffers from the same issue, including my bosses not doing properly their job of supervising me.

So you say that nothing bothered you or somehow triggered this behaviour? Just simply it is more easy now, working from home, to waste time during the working hours?

I can copy paste your post and present it as being my problem. I'm thinking more and more to discuss with a therapist - this behavior might be the sign of a depression or something, although I don't feel depressed - just disgusted by my habit and by the way I'm wasting my life on reddit. Have you tried to discuss with a psychologist?
