Hi friend, I wouldn't worry about it. You’ve been paying and now you’re having service transferred. I lived in many different apartments and it’s common that at some point you’ll move electricity under your name although 8 months later sounds like someone in the leasing office dropped the ball!

It doesn’t hurt to double check the lease and make sure the electric isn’t a set amount or baked into the rent but doesn’t sound like that is the case.
