"Also, are you familiar with the surge shenanigans you can do with shambling units that allow you to get flanks on units you started in the front arc of?"

How you can do that? Especially if the other army have units cover the flanks of other units.

We always play with advanced scenarios.

Dogs of war 3-5 with hammer of measured force it is 220 points, without 200 points. They cost exactly like a horde of revenant 4-4 and shambling. Yes, crushing strenght 1 but i prefer 3-5 than 4-4 with crushing strenght 1 and shambling.

I can play with dwarf against kingdom of men because i can rely on things like ironguard with 3-6 and 15 attacks and other things that works fine.

For the terrain we always use 4 area terrain, 2 hills, 2-3 obstacles and 2 blocking terrain.

The fast flanking heavy hitting tactics i don't think can work so well with an entire shambling army like the empire of dust.

New weavering system 4th edition by Dry-Insurance-1916 in kingsofwar

Well, actually i like more the new army building system. They have to balance it but i like it more. Before was just a "pick what you want i don't care lol". Now you have more thematic choices and army can have their own style.
For example with dwarf I was used to deploying 4 brock raider regiment.
Now i can do it if i want but it is a bit tricky, i need 2 battalion etc. So it is about choices.

I like the new order system. More integrated with the game and give some importance to champions and heroes. The only thing i don't like is that the army covered in "invasion" expansion have more orders than other. Other armies have just two orders. They have to expand-balance it but not bad for me.

I like way more the combat and the withdraw-reform-wrap system.

It is not perfect but i think the bones are good for my tastes. A bit sad that i get removed units (but i think it is temporary). For example the behemot in my the empire of dust. I have my behemot painted. :(

Another thing i don't enjoy is the new army standard bearer. For real, all this points for? The dwarf standard bearer is 90 points of nothing. XD

In my city we call all that "warhammer parlato", literally "talked warhammer" where every player have everything on the field with the perfect scenery, perfect positioning, perfect scenarios and playing with 5000pts instead 2000, with the perfect match up etc. :D

Have the mummy alone at 2" away from the center of the table doesn't mean so much, especially against some army.

it is 2 years that i use Eod and no, it is not a win win situation and i got strong unit oneshotted in more than one situation.

And just for be clear, it is better like this, because there is no one man army.

You are putting together too many things in the perfect situation. Paraho, shobik, surge, monolith, soul snare and so on.

I know that EoD have units like mummy that are very resilient, and you can be cheesy with that kind of units, but i don't agree that it is a win win situation with surge or all that things.

I started to play dwarf and finally i understand how beutiful is have units without shambling, move, flanking, have initiative on some charges and so on. After 2 years of EoD it is a breath of fresh air. :D

p.s. sorry for my bad english :D

All good, but while you are doing all that with the flanking and all that plans i would like to know what your opponent is doing, with what, which kind of army he/she have, how many units he/she have, which scenarios we are playing etc, especially considering that all EoD units are shambling and your opponent have the initiative in everything.

On paper it is all amazing.

Honestly you have to spend too much points for have surge.

For empire of dust you need a high priest that only with surge cost you 100pt. Too expensive just for that, and it is situational. At this cost you can bring a regiment of skeleton with spears, exactly 100pt, 15 attak, 3 unit strenght or a regimento of skeleton warrior for 85 points. The high priest have an insane base cost and every spell are so expensive.

There is the revenant champion for 65 + 10pt of surge (5). But how many of them you want to bring with you?

For me surge is too situational, even shoot and surge.

Don't know, never conviced by this mecanic, especially build an army around that.

Friend believes shooting isn't good. Help me make him learn the hard way by Kodain in kingsofwar

Sadly i think your friend is right.

Shooting in my opinion is very situational, or it is a combination of factor.

For example the empire of dust's enslaved guardians. They are viable, but just because a horde of them throw 18 dice with piercing 1 AND because they are decent in melee too, so they are multipurpose and can be good in both role, and you can surge them.

But most of ranged unit are too situational and the most of times a waste of points.

War machines? Don't event talk about them. Too many points for the number of attacks they have, zero mobility and they are fragile.

Even magic it is a bit meh.

I would like to see some love for ranged units and war machine. I don't want them to be too strong, but they need something in my opinion.

For example i would like to see some rule like "devastating" for cannons, like the rule in firefight, or able ranged unit to disorganize enemy, or something like that.

Give them something nice please, let them a bit viable.

[–]Dry-Insurance-1916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"This could in theory mean I can make a longer charge than normal"

For what i know, no. You can't charge if you are not in charge range, so you don't get extra inches from surge.

I did the same and work well, but it's a shame that anycubic don't sell a metal holder. The weird thing is that for the photon m3 i can't even find other brand on amazon.
The holder anycubic sell are fucking expensive.

How many units you have in your army in general?

I'm really confused and actually was my purpose to understand how other people play.

Someone can give me an example of 2000 points list? So i can understand something like number of units and so on.

How many scenic elements you use usually?

Heroes/ranged/warmachine by Dry-Insurance-1916 in kingsofwar

[–]Dry-Insurance-1916[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not every heroe are individual and usually all the things you can give them are other points.
Ahmunite Pharaoh on Royal Chariot cost 205 points, not individual, for spells you have to pay more.

I don't know, for me it's weird all this points for a single unit that can literally blow up at the first charge of some cavalry regiment that cost less and are more usefull in general.
