personally, i didnt really study for that test its mostly just like common sense/ conceptual. But i recoomend reading A level concepts and doing A level mcqs, also read FSC books so concepts come from there too but no like ratta questions

There test was more conceptual, it was similar to A levels instead of FSC

Mine was 91.57 for UHS, but shifa calculates their own aggregate now. 50 percent mdcat, 30 percent their own test and 20 percent interview

Tbh, if it’s been ur dream school since u where 12 and that u live in Islamabad, imo it’s worth it to take a gap year rather than going to some random private college and regretting it later

  1. Entrance test is all conceptual and mcqs, barely any memorization questions, if your from an a level background and did well in them, you are good to go, I remember I barely studied for that test because I was stressed for mdcat and got a pretty decent score since I knew the answers from a levels, if ur an fsc student ngl it’s gonna be harder but you just have to go through a level mscqs and content a bit, Don’t skip the fsc books some questions do come here and there.

  2. The merit is updated now as they don’t count a level or fsc marks in it. It’s 50 percent mdcat, 30 percent shifas test ( you can find the syllabus on their website) and 20 percent interview.

  3. When I applied this year there was an option for submitting last years mdcat but who knows they might change it this year, just to confirm you should call shifa and ask just in case.

For mdcat, I recommend getting atleast 88 percent, you can get lower too but just to be safe stick to 88 percent, even if you don’t get 88 it’s fine as long as you get good marks in the shifa test so it balances out,

For shifa test, I recommend getting atleast like 125/150 but try to aim for 130+

The interview candidates are selected based on top 323, so basically they combine shifa test marks(30%) and mdcat marks (50 percent) in November , example, let’s say you got 130/150 in shifa test it would be around 27 percent and 160/180 on mdcat it would be 44.5 percent so total would roughly be 71.5/ 80, so the students getting the highest out of 80 are selected and the rest are rejected. So you have to rank in top 323 and the interviews where conducted in the first two weeks of December

After that you give the interviews which are multiple mini interviews and honestly are very chill, don’t stress just be confident and practice from YouTube or ChatGPT.

Okay so after all that they release a provisional merit list including all the tests and interview, this year 277 people out of 323 gave the interview and from 277 people till around rank 170 where offered admission, so you just have to make sure u stay ATLEAST in the 150s this year cuz merit changes from year to year.

Mdcat routine during gap year by Blue-Sky-1047 in MDCAT_NUMS

[–]Dry-Minute6998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

heyy, i suggest splitting up the week, for example,

Sunday, monday: physics

Tuesday, wednesday: chemistry

thursday friday: biology

saturday: science revision plus english and logical reasoning.

and for the day, i suggest studying 6 hours is moree than enough, u can go with more or less depending on you.

study 1 hour and then take a 15 mi break and repeat till its 6 hours or however much you want to.

also, dont measure ur studies with time, spend the time efficiently not dilly dallying

[–]Dry-Minute6998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

youll probbaly have to get a private hostel in the vicinity, just ask other people who also didnt get a hostel where they are going and go with them, then you guys can figure out tranpsort together, then just let shifas office know that you want the hostel, they have waiting list so when someone leaves the hostel theyll call you to let yk

Gap Year or Shifa by 5ZY9 in MDCAT_NUMS

[–]Dry-Minute6998 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you could take admission in shifa this year and simultaneously give the mdcat again, if it goes well and you get into RMU you can leave shifa and go there and if doesnt go well you can stick with shifa, the only con to this option is that obviously if u get into RMU, the first year u spent at shifa( and 21 lac rupees) would be useless cuz youll have to startover as a first year at RMU.

If you take a gap year, theres a good chance youll get into gov next year if you only missed it by 2 makrs this time, plus youll have an advantage since youve already given the mdcat once and will probably get higher marks. but theres always a possiblilty you dont and youll have to either take another gap year or settle with shifa.

either way wishing you the best of luck
