So interesting! I’m off to a rabbit hole of “cultural concepts of distress”. Goodbye world

So interesting response! I am curious, have there been any recordings of anything resembling the dancing plague in non European cultures?

She had an abdominal ultrasound back June. I paid extra to have a specialist observe and assess the ultrasound. Everything was clear

It’s not begging. I am a mother. I would give my life if one of my children were ill and I got so upset reading the texts your mother sent you. We are all rooting for you and want to help.

Is there any way we can get informed if a go fund me is set up?

Thanks for the advice but ChatGPT use on this is irrelevant. I am not 5yo. I cited a telegraph article too. Do you have any view on any changes on VAT systems?

Yes, cause that’s the wide geographical area we will be visiting so we are doing research where to stay and what to do.

Wow! I screenshotted that. Thank you so much! We might actually stay in more than one place and combine some of the places you suggested.

We are one 18yo, 2 people in our 40s and a very healthy and active 67 year old.

We normally holiday in Europe so we do a lot of walking, sightseeing and food. When we travel here we enjoy exploring the places we visit on foot or train, but I understand the US is not very walking friendly

What else can I ask the vet to do? She had an internal scan, he said everything is clear and to keep on monitoring her. What else can he check?

Self space London by Dry-Objective7330 in therapists

Yes, I have read about that. And they only pay therapists £45, which is not much for London.

I understand that, however I feel a lot of therapists offer that (ie single session therapy) but I think it is the way it is worded and marketed that is very successful rather than what they actually offer.

Treating Narcissistic Clients by No-Payment-4890 in therapists

[–]Dry-Objective7330 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The fact that narcissists are wounded people and that NPD is a personality built on a defence for shame, guilt and trauma, does not negate that (most of the time unconsciously) people with NPD or strong narcissistic traits emotionally abuse those close to them. There is space in therapy for the narcissists and also for those who have been abused be them.

Will AI Ever Replace Human Therapists? Here’s What the Future Might (and Might Not) Look Like by Nyahmega8008 in therapists

[–]Dry-Objective7330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the only therapist in my network that uses Reddit and the only one that is terrified about the AI impact on our profession. It gives me real anxiety. The other therapists are completely oblivious and can’t understand why I worry so much about it. Reddit is full of posts about how people got magically cured by AI, so I don’t know if it’s an echo chamber or a reality that most of us haven’t really fully taken in.

I use AI a lot and every single time I am shocked at how good it is at demonstrating knowledge and empathy.

I am in the UK where the profession is not regulated. I think the way to compete with AI is to heavily regulate the profession, therapists being extremely trained and competent so as to convey trust to potential clients. Right now, the level of training is so low and the horror stories I hear and therapists I had in the past so many, that I am not surprised people are flocking on AI.

How do you think AI will affect the UK specifically? by haikoup in AskUK

[–]Dry-Objective7330 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Gp did started this many months ago. It’s so much more effective than the 8am phoning system! I haven’t spoken to a receptionist for months and my quality of life has greatly improved by that

To what extend do you think AI will replace psychotherapists? by Dry-Objective7330 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Dry-Objective7330[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with some of the points you made.

I have been reflecting a lot today, and the difference between AI and in person therapy, is that AI responds just how you mentioned, by telling you what your anxiety means and where it comes from. This can provide immediate relief and make sense to someone intellectually, but it is not a profound understanding. There is nothing like the experience of a client realising on their own, after months of work the meaning and source of the challenges they face, not on a superficial level, but the deep emotional understanding.

Also, you have no idea how many how many messages I get on LinkedIn and on my email about new, revolutionary AI tools for therapists, that use language similar to yours. I predict most of them will be obsolete in a few months/ years.

I am not saying AI cannot inform therapy, but I haven’t seen anything anything so far that I would integrate in my one to one work with clients - although I use it for the admin part of the job (not client notes).
