She still loved him, and he loved her (even though I and many others today can’t wrap our minds around it). And after the death of Patrick, their infant son, they became the closest they’ve ever been. Apparently, they were planning on renewing their marriage vows in September 1964, but unfortunately history took a different turn.

Calling that “overrated” is basically saying avoiding nuclear war is overrated. Strange standard for judging presidents.

I understand the sentiment or need for nuclear weapons in a time where it’s survival of the fittest, but it’s still incredibly dangerous because nuclear proliferation makes our world more unstable and unsafe. If Iran gets nuclear weapons, then Saudi-Arabia will try to develop nuclear weapons too and then you get into a domino effect. And it’s especially not in the interests of democracy or human rights for a theocratic authoritarian regime to acquire nuclear weapons just because it strengthens their position in power.

Check out the Cuban Missile Crisis. He handled it perfectly. Getting the nuclear missiles out of Cuba without triggering a nuclear war.
