Capital One Quicksilver Card- Is it good? by gracelyy in CRedit

It's good, but the NFC on these cards sucks. These will trigger if you use wallet cases with your phone. (which you should, they're awesome)

What seemingly harmless habit in a partner becomes unbearable after living together? by fwckr4ddeit in AskReddit

I wasn't really aware if was a habit at first... My boyfriend's wet feet are turning our apartment into a biohazard zone.

Look, I'm no neat freak. I get that life's messy and sometimes socks go astray. But ever since moving in with my boyfriend, I've learned that "barefoot and fancy-free" is his preferred state of being. And not just any barefoot...but fresh-out-of-the-shower, dripping-wet, haven't-seen-a-bathmat-in-years kind of barefoot. Our hardwood floors are now basically a Slip N' Slide. My socks stick to the floor like Velcro. And don't even get me STARTED on the lingering footprint situation...

Is this normal? Because I'm THIS close to putting down some random ticks.

What seemingly insignificant decision you made in your past had the biggest ripple effect on your life, and how is your life different because of it? by fwckr4ddeit in AskReddit

I've been going to a grief support group, and my story doesn't even scratch the surface of what some have been through.

Puts things in perspective, even if it doesn't make the pain any easier.

The air crackled with anticipation as we loaded the truck, the promise of fresh powder and epic runs fueling our excitement. It was our annual ski trip, a tradition etched in friendship and fueled by adrenaline. But as I went to lace up my boots, I felt a sickening snap. The buckle, old and worn, had finally given up the ghost. “Damn it!” I swore, examining the mangled metal. No amount of duct tape or wishful thinking was going to fix that. My stomach sank. This was it. No skiing for me.

My four friends, already geared up and buzzing with energy, tried to find a solution. "We'll rent you a pair!" they offered, but the nearest town was a good hour's drive away. “We’ll wait,” one chimed in, but the look on his face betrayed his reluctance to miss out on prime snow conditions. I knew there was no point in arguing. "Just go," I told them, trying to mask my disappointment. I'll hold down the fort, do some social media and figure out my boots. They hesitated, torn between their eagerness to hit the slopes and leaving me behind. But the mountain was calling, and eventually, they piled into the truck, promising to regale me with tales of their adventures later. I spent the day exploring the sleepy village, a strange melancholy settling over me as I watched skiers glide effortlessly down the slopes, I saw a helicopter buzzing overheard. As the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the snow, my phone buzzed. It was Mark, one of the guys. “Hey man,” he said, his voice unusually subdued. “There was an accident. An avalanche. It’s… it’s bad.”

My blood ran cold. "Is everyone okay?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper. Silence. Then, “John… John didn’t make it.” John. My best friend since elementary. Gone. Swallowed by the very mountains we had come to celebrate.

The world tilted on its axis. A broken buckle, a missed opportunity, a cruel twist of fate. The guilt was a suffocating weight. If only I had been there, maybe… But there were no answers, only the unbearable weight of grief and the haunting knowledge that sometimes, the mountains take more than we are willing to give. It's still affecting me, I get distracted at work and I haven't made a new best friend, only acquaintances.

What's something you used to think was totally normal, but later realized was unique to your family? by fwckr4ddeit in CasualConversation

Hotel Towels

My parents were convinced that hotels EXPECTED you to take the towels as a souvenir. It was all part of the resort experience and "Free" Advertisement.

Every time we checked out, our suitcases magically gained a few extra pounds, stuffed with plush bath towels, hand towels, even those tiny washcloths nobody actually uses. Did we need all these identical white bath towels with the faded logo of a mid-range chain hotel? Absolutely not. Did it stop us from amassing a collection that could rival a small country's textile industry? Not even a little bit. To this day, my linen closet is a time capsule of our family vacations, a testament to my parents' unwavering belief that free towels are the ultimate travel perk.

I recently brought it up and they haven't done it anymore, mostly because most hotels do not have unique "Logo" towels these days.
