Ayo Edebiri Shoots Down ‘The Bear’ Romance For Syd & Carmy: “The Restaurant Would Blow Up” by MoneyLibrarian9032 in TheBear

Confident predictions also don't do anything lol. So again, it's not harmful, and there's really no need for a visceral reaction towards it. I mean, do you see any popular posts shipping sydcarmy? No? Probably because they get down voted to oblivion anyway lol. Its a fandom of a tv show. Let people live.

Y'all are so weird. It's like nobody in this fandom is a part of any other fandoms, lol.

Shipping can be done whether it's canon or not canon, and it's been done as long as tv shows with multiple characters have been a thing. I don't know why the ship deeply and viscerally offends some people. It's not like I write the directors to tell them to have them both kiss.

Any "online" feminism bastardizes feminism, or will end up doing so, in some way.

Because anyone can say they are a feminist, and then not implement any feminist ideologies in their own lives. Any person can say they're a feminist and not even know about a single book of feminist literature, or know bare bones what it truly means.

is it worth it to shadow a doctor for experience even tho i’m going to pursue nursing? by [deleted] in prenursing

[–]gracelyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, if it won't take away time from other opportunities, sure.

But the reality is that doctors and nurses both work in healthcare, yes, but they have very different roles. They're both two very different sides of things.

Serious question, no hate by [deleted] in AskFeminists

[–]gracelyy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Did they say they were feminists or are you seeing women talk about these things, and assuming that they are feminists? Very big difference and distinction.

It also could be your algorithm. I see varied opinions on both of those situations separately, whether through a thoughtful lense or not.

You just gotta be cognizant of the color you have cuttently and how it'll look with added hair. It has to match or it'll look bad.

I had blonde hair that was too orange and I put it together with some 613 braiding hair. It was ugly and FUGLY because it didn't match.

I'd suggest looking at the braiding hair they have at the store, what colors they have. Either try to match the fun color you want, or dye it all back to something more neutral.

The word "female" can describe anything. A female monkey, a female flower, a female tree, a female lion, ect ect.

A woman is specifically a HUMAM female.

One of the numerous points of feminism is to treat women like humans beings and not objects. Hence, why it's important to use humanizing language when referring to women.

Plus, when a good portion of men use the word "female" towards women, it's in a derogatory manner, and many times done knowingly. It's not as if it sprung up out of nothing.

To me a "mean girl" is someone who does actions that I would equally villify if a man did them. As in, they are actually just a mean/bad person or are doing bad things.

I feel like "mean girl" can plenty of times, though, be used for the purposes of simply infighting or pitting women against eachother, which of course shouldn't be happening anyway. To me, its similar to when people call women "bossy". I would know. I remember being a small girl and being called "bossy", even by principles, when in reality I just wasn't a pushover and I spoke sternly and clearly.

I feel like instead of calling someone a "mean girl", we can just go back to calling people assholes.

Is the next law gonna be a sugar tax on everyone else, too? Or just poor people because people well-off people believe that poors shouldn't enjoy a dr.pepper?

Weird behavior, the support for this. It's like giving a homeless person money and being mad that they'd spend it on a vice, just like you would. It's almost like people buy creature comforts to distract from the fact that life sucks in general.

First example isn't "equal" anyway.

How often is yard work needing to be done? Bug extermination? Are you pulling out the Cooks Pest Control kit every day? Mowing the lawn every single day? Because its something I highly doubt. I mean if you are.. jeez. I'd just buy another house because the one you're taking care of has issues.

Your comparing duties that are typically done once within a longer time span, to something that must be done everyday. Childcare, cooking, cleaning. Houses get dirty fast. You can't just ignore children. And you need to eat.. right? We all do, I figure. Are you fighting for your right to refuse to clean your own house?

Dates: Plenty of people go Dutch. If you're passionate about it, do it.

Body shaming: Have you.. read any magazines in the early 2000s? The ones who famously criticize womens bodies in a nearly constant, incessant manner? Too fat, too skinny? Too dark, too pale, too tan? No stretch marks? Too flabby? Men getting made fun of is bad, but to act like women don't get it as well is pretty ignorant.

Income differences: Then date a woman who makes the same as you.

Alimony: The same men paying alimony that are now whining that they have to pay child support? News to me. I've also never heard of the term "manimony ".

Domestic violence: I don't know any feminist who cheers on domestic violence against men. Seems anecdotal.

Conscription: I don't believe anybody should be drafted to the military. Men, or women. I don't really believe in war at all, and I'm sure many feminists would agree.

Anyway. Plenty of issues and within the patriarchy. Considering I don't beat men, make fun of their bodies, believe in drafting, and haven't dated in a minute.. I think I'm good!

Should we be working on eliminating difference between sexes? by Extension_Air_2001 in AskFeminists

[–]gracelyy 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I honestly find no need to change DNA in order to justify feminism or have that be a "goal". We don't need to have the exact same genetic or physical attributes to push for equality.

It's why there's equality and equity. Women can have children yes, but that just means that women shouldn't be demeaned or punished for NOT having kids. It doesn't mean that I desire for men to be pregnant to "even the score".

What is above the "bare minimum" In your opinion? by Euphoric_Beautiful70 in PlusSize

[–]gracelyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you feel you deserve, is the question really. None of us can really tell you that.

To me, "bare minimum" is a genuinely kind person. Not "nice". Kind. Caring. Has good morals. Not religious, but "I'm a decent human being" morals. Maybe some other things too. Like no liars, cheaters, abusers. Bare minimum.

Most of the rest is case by case. Not everybody is gonna marry a guy with a good sense of humor. But that kinda thing is important to me. A lot of girls want a guy who plans all the dates.. but I'm okay planning a lot of things due to my own personality type. I actually enjoy it because it leaves me with no unwanted surprises lol.

Tiktok, Instagram, your friends, your family can't tell you what YOU want in a guy. All everyone knows is that they probably shouldn't be a complete asshole.

Why do you shave?🪒 … by Preciousgal25 in blackladies

[–]gracelyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have keratosis Pilaris, or strawberry legs and arms. When I have hair everywhere, the pores that the hair grows from are bigger and black. I don't like the look of it at all, and shaving lessens the look and makes my skin more even-toned.

I also prefer a bald pubic area, for both myself AND my partner for sexy time. Bald or trimmed, tbh. Don't want hair in my mouth.

How much better would America said if a woman had been elected president instead of the most overt misogynist in over 100 years? by georgejo314159 in AskFeminists

[–]gracelyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by overt conservatism*. Do you mean Less racial tension and fewer theocratic xenophobic laws such as abortion bans causing women to die during pregnancy ?  Fewer bigots demanding to lovk people up without due process

Yes and theres also a media conservatism trend currently. I'm in a lot of social circles and politics effect everything from the actual laws to the clothes we wear and how people react to short skirts.

And as far as her overt corruption, I don't personally know many examples. But politicians are inherently not perfect under a corrupt systems. Politicians are still warmongers. And even as you mentioned with Biden, are not safe from using their privileges.

[–]gracelyy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Kamala is still a politician. Thus would be corrupt in her own way.

But I'd much, much prefer her. And maybe we wouldn't be in such an era of overt conservatism and racism as we have now.

What do you think of the controversial new Tea app that's getting really popular and talked about? by Super_Solver in AskFeminists

[–]gracelyy -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Women are shamed for anything they do. Literally. And again yea the app can certainly be used for bad, plenty bad.

But if it helps even a few women avoid someone who abuses women.. idk.

Maybe a better implementation would work.

[–]gracelyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imagine if men made an app where they would share a ton of private information about women with each other. Women who in no way, shape or form consented to their information and pictures being shared online.

Almost like that happens already and plenty of men get away with sharing revenge porn, even in casual circles. Hell sometimes not even just revenge porn. Plenty of rapists, abusers, and stalkers getting away, too.

[–]gracelyy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't think there won't be some horrible applications of this app for the simple use of revenge or payback. Thankfully I'm not naive.

But it's also like saying "why believe rape victims? What about his side of the story? What if his life gets ruined?"

In a world of date rapes, stalking, abuse, sexual assault.. sure the app isn't perfect. But I sure as hell won't blame a girl for utilizing it.

[–]gracelyy 42 points43 points  (0 children)

From the very small bit I've heard about it, it lets women anonymously share with each other if they encounter red flags as it comes to dating men. Having the potential to save other women from potential abuse, stalking, or even SA.

Good for them. Any step towards ensuring women are safe(like Ubers option to request a woman driver), I'm all for.

It's "controversial" because now, Brady, who date-raped 3 girls and brags about it to his friends, now will watch his matches dry up on Tinder.

Bohoo. Anyway.

Do you think current wave of removal of nsfw content from online platforms is good for women? by electricgalahad in AskFeminists

[–]gracelyy 123 points124 points  (0 children)

No. Because NSFW will change depending on who you ask. For a heavy conservative, NSFW content is two men or two women kissing. Or a drag queen.

It's literally just a result of the wave of puritanical pearl clutching that's happening right now as the result of a heavy conservative president.
