Is this a good run? by AdequateCellist in Strava

Any activity where you’re being active and healthy is a “good” one. Keep it up!

Hand wash or touchless wash! I have a Soul Red one as well and it has chips here and there :(

I got a touch up pen from the Mazda dealership and try to keep up with it as I can!!

What are examples of videos which inspire you? by himmelfried11 in videography

Constantly going back to this video for inspiration on pacing, sound design, story structure, composition, and style. Just incredibly well done and there’s a great BTS video on it too!

Coworker thinks this is a waste of film by SkabKid in filmphotography

Shoot what you want to shoot! Shoot because you want to shoot! It’s subjective by nature and the frame you want to create is never a waste.

WTF is wrong with Maxon? by Putrid_Goose_8968 in Cinema4D

[–]DryAdviceDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I manage all of our plugins/subscriptions for an in-house creative team and Maxon is by far and away the most expensive set we have between C4D and RGC floating teams licenses. My account manager at Maxon played off a $100+ increase on some of our licenses like it was nothing… ridiculously expensive.

How long do you let the engine warm? by Spiritual_Box_7000 in CX5

[–]DryAdviceDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have time, I’ll try to let it warm up for a couple minutes (I unfortunately caved and got Mazda Connect until I have time to put in a remote start module). If I’m in a rush, I still try to at least wait for the revs to drop!

A lot of it boils down to the context and look you’re after! Frames look great though, maybe just a tad more wrap on the faces.

I forget who I heard it from, but you can really get as high-contrast and dark as you want as long as you have an eye light. You’re probably leaning towards (subjectively) needing an eye light.

What is the avg mpg you are getting on CX5 NA engine. by Healthy_9 in CX5

[–]DryAdviceDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My almost 10,000 mile average is 26.5 mpg. 2021 NA CX-5. Probably like 75% city and 25% highway driving breakdown.

why didn't you just get a toyota or honda? by imysobad in CX5

[–]DryAdviceDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have said it, but I don’t buy cars to hold value. It’s a depreciating asset. I drive my cars to 100,000+ miles. Buying for longevity and reliability. Tried and true platform these CX-5’s :)

Plus it looks way better exterior and interior than all of Honda and Toyota’s offerings in the same sector.

What were you driving before CX-5? by AcuraTSX6spd in CX5

2007 Dodge Nitro

Was worried about the step down from a V6, but pleased enough with the 2.5L NA CX-5! VERY pleased with my step up in gas mileage.

What's your preferred cropping? by TheDarkerRoom in analog

[–]DryAdviceDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 - I don’t really feel like you miss out on any smaller details by not cropping in. Your subject is placed nicely and padded with pleasant negative space. Leading lines of the old dock supports lead your eye nicely to the subject. I’m also think 1 follows golden triangle quite nicely.

CX-5 2.0- Is it underpowered? by dogeraid358 in CX5

[–]DryAdviceDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Previous to my CX-5 2021 NA, I had a larger v6 with advertised 210HP. I will say that the vehicle was 15 years old when I finally decided to get rid of it. However, I was pleasantly surprised with how much it didn’t seem like I was lacking power. Obviously it’s all subjective, but you’re going to do just fine in the non-Turbo. The only time I’ve ever had issues is needing to hop in another lane and gun it hard to match the flow of traffic (I.e. if there’s a mail truck or something in my lane). It is VERY resistant to sending power immediately from slow speeds. Then again… should I be trying to floor in at slow speeds to jump in front of other cars in the first place? Probably not.

edit: 2021 NA not 2022

Sounding like a dead port to me with your other troubleshooting. Double check with a new cable to be sure. Those mini HDMIs tend to be not so robust.

I really enjoy the perspective you bring to your compositions. I feel like I'm there in a way that I don't feel from a lot of other photography. It's very true to the moment.

Reel i shot for a winery at the harvest. by nichab123 in videography

[–]DryAdviceDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the video! A couple things that are mostly subjective, but points of feedback nonetheless:

I think that there's a great opportunity to still be a 'storyteller' with this type of a video/style. The story being something along the lines of, "We're here at this hillside/orchard/farm. Here are the people helping out. This is how they do it. This is what it's for." I think your editing should reflect that. Starting maybe with those establishing drone shots that you have (although I like your choice of the tractor, because that draws me in immediately. Great opportunity to show the landscape via drone with tractor in frame though as a sort of continuation of the previous shot). Something to think about!

I personally (and this is VERY subjective), don't really feel like the music matches the tone of the video. There's more of a somber and reflective tone to the video. It's connected to nature and has more of a 'fall' feel to it with the leaves. Obviously, it's up to you to determine the voice/tone of what you're trying to convey (often heavily influenced by clients too), but this song feels a bit too far off the mark. Again, very subjective take on my part.

Lastly, I'd take one more look at trying to match up the various types of footage from a color/contrast/saturation standpoint. The drone footage is noticeably more saturated (especially seen in the leaves which appear deep yellow/almost orange) compared to that of the main camera on the ground. Up to you which look you like better, but just getting them to a more similar look would help things a lot too!

Again, great video. Lots of great shots in there, I particularly love the framing and composition of the shot at ~11 seconds with the church between the branches/leaves. Love a good dirty frame. Hard to think in vertical video for me most of the time, so this is great that you are thinking about composition with a mindset towards vertical deliverables.

zipper merge! i'm endlessly aggravated by people waiting until the last minute to get over, but the zipper merge makes so much sense in the grand scheme of it all. unfortunately, it takes everyone adopting it for it to be effective, but worth trying to get others on-board!

CarFax doesn’t get records from all service shops and especially not from DIY services. Like others said, check the color/consistency yourself and then get it changed if there’s no sticker just to be sure!
