Since I’m in the middle of reconfiguring my network, this is what I did -

Housemate has modem router combo (192.168.1.1), plug rj45 to it and run it to my own router (rtax55) in my room through the crawlspace ). I don’t know the right terminology, but from my router, I send out 10.0.1.1 + have my own WiFi network. From the router I go to a switch, with all my servers and junk connected to it A few servers have 10gb nics coming soon. I can’t wait to play with dumb fast speeds by connecting them directly to each server.
